I came across this video of Harris English's swing and I found some things interesting. For starters, here are English's current ballstriking rankings: Driving Effectiveness: 46th Green Zone (75-125 yards): 142nd Yellow Zone (125-175 yards): 13th Red Zone (175-225 yards): 45th That's very good ballstriking. The Green Zone play is weak, but that is not much of a factor on the PGA Tour. I thought this was interesting because English struck it very well in 2013 and then got off to a hot 2014 before struggling immensely down the stretch. Here at address we see a very strong left hand grip. He will then slide the pelvis considerably forward in the downswing. With this type of pelvis slide, it's not surprising that he un-cocks the wrists on the downswing a bit early. This usually would not lead to a drive-hold style release, but he gets it here. I think this is mostly due to English's internal rotation of the left shoulder stemming from the strong left hand grip. He gets the left elbow pointing more towards the target at impact than pointing at his belly. But, we do see more of a roll as we watch that left elbow thru impact. If we look at the front of the left elbow we start to see more of it as he goes thru impact. It's not a huge thing, but it's definitely there. And I think what happens with him is when he's more on, he's getting less of that roll and drive-holding. When he's not on, there's more roll and it's no longer a drive-hold release. 3JACK
