I saw this swing on YouTube.
Usually I scoff at these ideas that people are emulating Hogan. I've probably seen about 2 good Hogan impersonations in my life, one from the late Matt Loving.
Another from a golf instructor whose name I can't quite remember (I think he passed away, too).
I don't think the golfer in question is all that close to Hogan's swing, but this looks like a darn good swing nonetheless.
I like this P4 position quite a bit. While it's different from Kelvin's approach to the swing, most 'Hogan inspired' swings seem to revolve around flat backswings that are not all that functional for the golfer. I think flat swings tend to be easier to be consistent with, especially for the amateur that can't quite stop getting 'above the plane' on the downswing. But too many good, experienced golfers with some talent tend to go too flat and sap their natural ability and talent from their swing.
I like this position from an upper body perspective. He's already got a slight amount of early extension in his lower body with no real Anterior Pelvic Tilt. You don't see that Hogan like knee flex at this position, prompted by the APT. But the right forearm is covering the right humerus bone, evidence of a quality right elbow move.
What's neat about this swing is that he doesn't get into Right Pelvic Tilt and even though he thrusts the pelvis a little, he's still able to get a good amount of rotation.
I like a lot of things in this impact position. His right arm is not bent very much, a sign of losing some right shoulder ER and not getting enough lateral bend ala Hogan.
So it's far from Hogan, but 'inspired' doesn't mean 'copied' or 'emulated.' And overall I like the motion quite a bit, so there are some little things he could do to perhaps help him a little bit, but this is a golfer that is inspired by Hogan to produce a top level golf swing, IMO.
