My god, Cowboys Stadium is about 1/2 full for the Oregon State vs. TCU game.

How much wind in Akron? The SU punter can't kick it further than 30 yards into the wind and with the wind he just booted one 70 yards. Better have your punch swing ready to play there today.

Ugh, I hate most sports writing, especially college football oriented sports writers. The Cuse didn't get off to a fast start running the ball, so the writers want to abandon the run for the pass, in windy conditions. 3JACK If you cant run the ball you cant win in college football, IMO.

LSU vs. UNC was a great game. TJ Yates looks like he could be a starting NFL QB someday...I can see why Butch Davis likes him. 3JACK If you cant run the ball you cant win in college football, IMO.

I am thinking of winning championships, Texas Tech was probably the closest non running model but even they could still run it. Hawaii was exposed in that Georgia game when they blitzed them and had no answer to run the ball.
Even a coach like Brian Kelly who is very creative with the pass will tell you they have to be able to run the ball to get where they want to go.

yep, great game. Both teams look so legitimately better than the year before. Michigan makes too many mistakes on defense though.
James Madison beats the Hokies today, I love it. But I hate that they say 'well, this could ruin Boise State's chances.' That's one reason why I'm not a big NCAA fan...the BS of the ranking system. Boise goes flies across country to play Va. Tech in the 1st game of the year and Va. Tech will likely make a bowl game and that could ruin their chances? Argh.
FSU got smoked by Oklahoma. Florida looked ugly against USF early and then turned it on.
Right now I have to follow the Gamecenter for the Washington-SU game because it's not even available on online radio. SU got a 10-0 lead, then blew it. They were on the Washington 25 with a minute to go and had 3rd and 7 and tried to run it for some reason as they haven't run it well all day. Then missed the field goal. Crappy playcalling.

Some interesting games in week 3
North Carolina is -2 against G Tech. I like the fact they had a bye last week and could prepare for the option attack. Home game thats a toss up, give me NC.
USC is -11 against Minnesota and a lame duck coach with a team that cant score. USC rolls them on the road.
Air Force -17 at Oklahoma. Opposite of game above, no time to prepare for wishbone after a big emotional game last week. Air Force can hang in there.
I like ND against MSU, -3.5. Think its very low scoring and ND had the better defense.
Take Arizona over Iowa in a -1 game, Iowa does not travel well west and its a very late start in a crazy atmosphere.

I presume that gmbtempe is still getting over his heart attack from the UMass game. 3JACK its the same old, no defense and crap special teams, been watching it for 3 years now. Its sooo old. UMass was a very solid club, going to win most of their games. These top ranked FCS teams are better then the bottom teams in a lot of conferences.

Great game between Notre Dame vs. MSU. Gotta say though, some poor coaching by Brian Kelly. He went for it on 4th and 1 on his own 42 yard line with 6 minutes left, and his defense had to bail him out. Then in OT, the Spartans fake a 46 yard attempt and throw for a TD which wins the game for them. Not sure about the rest of the world, but I'll let a college kicker try 46 yard field goals on grass every time.

The play clock had also expired and they did not call it. I hate ND...and MSU for that matter. Man, I lost 2 picks on the last play of the game, ND and Minnesota gets a no nothing TD in the last 10 seconds.

The Florida Gators are giving me heartburn and I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. They have an extra week off right now so they have a chance to show some improvement. (Cam Newton would have looked really good in Gator Gear about right now). I don't know what they are going to do about the quarterback(s) and play calling but they have to make some serious adjustments if they are going to start to right the ship. The offense isn't even close to being average, and that's not Gator average, that's DIV I football average.

It's tough turning over talent in the college game. I think from an overall coaching standpoint, when you look at both all of the collegiate and NFL coaches, Urban is a very good coach. But the issue with the college game is that really lousy coaches can look good if they can recruit.
Me and some friends were talking about this the other day.
It took Petrino *less than 1 year* to be exposed as a lousy coach and a fraud of a person. He goes to Arkansas and in less than 2 years he's developed one of the top programs and all is well. Saban couldn't hack it in the NFL and is a demigod in college. Spurrier was a pathetic joke in the NFL, another demigod in college. Lou Holtz may have been the biggest joke of an NFL coach of all time, won a National Championship.
Unfortunately many school's fans don't accept that.

I dont get Florida's decision to eschew their spread offense and go more to a pro style........like it has not been working the past four years? Really strange, its like they have the personal for one offense and run something different, Texas has made the decision to do the same thing. Dont get it at all.
