I don't really recall the Mizuno TP era, but when Mizuno really burst onto the scene for me was when Faldo was dominating and he was using the MP-29's. The MP-14's are very similar to the 29's, but the 29's are a bit more of a classic blade. However, the 14's were basically a precurso the player irons today. I actually just hit some about a week ago at the PGA Tour Superstore and they feel great. This set is missing a 7-iron, but you could probably find one through some club scouter site. Starting bid is only $1 and there is no reserve

Thats a nice set....the one thing I did not realize is that the lofts are very weak in this set, the PW is 50 which is close to my current gap wedge....I assume its not hard to strengthen them?

I've got some experience in bending clubs. As I've mentioned in the past, I had some irons bent 5* upright once.
Anyway, clubfitters...particularly those at golf stores like GolfSmith and PGA SS tend to get nervous about bending clubs because they don't want the heads to snap. I can't say I blame them, but the reality is that IF IT IS A FORGED IRON, you should be able to bend it without snapping the head unless the clubfitter screwed up.
Lag Erickson said he has irons at his home that he bent 12 DEGREES FLAT and he's never had a head snap on him. And he uses a very old lie/loft bending machine (I might get one in the future as well).
Mizuno's are super soft so bending them is easier to do with less worry snapping the heads. I would recommend hitting shots with old irons with the old lofts just because the COG was higher so the ball launched lower, that's why they had weaker lofts.
In fact, that's one of the reasons why I bought the MP-62's, I wanted a soft, forged club that I could bend if I deemed fit in the future.

I will do that Rich, one thing that is nice is I can hit them side by side with my current Mizuno's for comparison.

Got these last night, what a steal..they are in pretty good shape other than the 9 iron which has serious groove wear. Interesting to get these measured, they have been bent for certain, looks maybe 4 degrees up and slightly longer than my current set which was already 1/2" longer than standard.

Despite my cheating ways my mp14s take me back time and time again. They're in my shop right now waiting for some new grips. Put in some new s400 shafts last week...
I don't see how someone could go wrong with the 14s. I don't think "modern" blades are any better.

Got the clubs, great condition in my book when looking at face and grooves...gotta regrip but think that was a good buy.
What I might do if I really fall for this set is send them to the iron factory.
