John Grahamn -
I believe you're correct and the other guy on the other website is completely wrong. (Sorry 3JACK, I had to look!!!) . Look at two railroad tracks in the distance. They converge in the distance whether I'm directly behind the tracks or parallel left of the tracks looking to the left or right of the tracks. I believe Dr. Craig Farnsworth has talked about this phenomenon with putting. How our brains process spatial awareness is a mystery to me and probably needs additional investigation.

Yea, I don't know what to say. He's usually pretty bright. Can't really understand how anyone can think that way. I once had to pull out parallel ropes to our 100 yard marker just to prove it to some one.

JG It's funny everytime I stood on a railroad track as a kid it always looked like the left track and the right track converged in the distance no matter how I looked at it... In both directions I believe you John but then again I have common sense. ;D

TBA,
I missed your criticism. You can have a dozen static and repeatable 'set ups' but some of them are not good precursors to the dynamic movements involved in a golf swing. so you can stand straight up with your feet six inches apart and arms hanging. static, repeatable but not a precursor to a golf swing. so my point, which i think is pretty simple and straightforward, is that balance is an order of magnitude more important than whether you are parallel left or off a bit; and if i had to choose between which of the two to work on in my set up, it would be to get myself in hte kind of position that would increase the probability of my being able to perform an appropriate golf swing in dynamic balance.
I don't think the point was mysterious or so obviously a non-sequitor as you do.

Sounds like Bobby Jones's setup, narrow stance straight up posture, not good for a precursor to dynamic balance, oh well.
I stand by what I posted. Nothing mysterious it reads straight forward, I just disagree with you, pretty simple actually.
