cwd, Trackman will spit out a number like +4 for club path. Thats just a horizontal measurement, not a 3d measurement. As I understand Trackman's technology, it uses mathematical algorithms to guess what swing path might be based on doppler radar return from the ball over about 80% of its recorded ball flight. Unless the unit knows face angle AND swing path angle at impact (which a doppler radar based system, by itself, has NO way of knowing), the measurement provided is strictly a guess based on observed ball flight and an assumed target line. A good swing analyzer, on the other hand, can accurately measure both swing path and face angle relative to the target line at impact. Latest testing and analysis, described in a recent Trackman newsletter, has determined that initial ball flight, at impact, is determined 85% by face angle and 15% by swing path.

I believe Trackman tracks the clubhead and the ball. If your numbers are comparable to Trackman you have something. If not, it will be hard for your product to be accepted by better players. A Trackman is $17,000+ and is considered the gold standard for impact conditions for better players. It would be helpful if you could post a video of your device against Trackman for the same shot.

Good idea, and that's definitely on our to-do list. I demo'd our eSwing Analyzer in Los Angeles, CA last spring at a golf training academy where the head pro had just written a check to Trackman for $40,000. To his absolute astonishment, our numbers for ball carry, club speed, and miss left/right of the target line came out right on top of his, which was really exciting for us to see. I'm comfortable that our integrated, photo-based launch monitor (available as an optional eSwing Analyzer accessory) will be at least as accurate in measuring spin rate, ball speed, launch angle and AOA ... all at about 1/20th of Trackmans' price (wholesale $2295). Disruptive technology is always good. Thanks for your suggestion!

Rick, can your tech be utilized off grass somehow or is it only available off the mat shown in the videos?

eSwing's opto-acoustic technology requires the ball to be hit from a known position (i.e., from a tee on the Launch Pad) to accurately capture timing data from its IR and U/S sensors that are inputs to software that calculates club speed, face angle, swing path and swing tempo. These sensors are triggered and controlled by a high speed micro-controller (PIC) processing 10 million instructions per second. Club head detection is measured in cycles, which correspond to 1/10 of 1/1,000,000 of a second. eSwing displays face angle and swing path in whole degrees, swing tempo in 1/10 seconds, and club speed in miles per hour. Accuracy beyond these display measurements are available but frankly not of much value in developing a repetitive, reliable, simple golf swing to play better golf quicker.
The tee height on which the ball is placed can be adjusted to four (4) different heights, starting from on the mat to 1 1/2" above the hitting pad in 1/2" increments.
Accuracy is more important to eSwing's functionality and value as a swing training device than practicing from turf.

Your price point is good if the readings are consistent with Tman. I know that technology will catch up with Tman very quickly and their price level will have to come down or they'll go bankrupt. Don't know when that will happen. That's the hard part about technology (IMO).
