Like it! i always used to play the ball back for a draw, but never really knew or understood why. I thought it was more because it would promote an in-to-out path per the OBFL.

Dan, If Rhett's miss tends to be CP, wouldn't you teach or keep him at CP-ish to be more successful playing eliminate one side of the course?
Plus watching your swing at Dana's new site, I've noticed your arms swing really well around your body doing S&T. What has been your teaching experiences on Hips forward/slide vs armswing(faster releasing #1)as far as general students needs?
thanks

What has been your teaching experiences on Hips forward/slide vs armswing(faster releasing #1)as far as general students needs? thanks Cp may not have been the best word, Rhett tends to bend the plane left. His left arm is in at P5 and clubface is far too open at P6 to be CP. When he stays on plane (exit at ribcage) he hits tiny draws like in the video I posted. In swings where he bends plane left (exits below left hip) he hits big spinny push cuts. He has averaged 15+ greens his last 2 events and made it through the pre qualifier for Quail Hollow but had a bad 2 holes on Monday and missed it by a couple shots. Tee to green he is solid as can be, if he can get his putting back to where it was 6 months ago he should win multiple Tarheel/E golf events this year. Most golfers I see release 1 too fast and need more hip slide and axis tilt. You will rarely see someone hold 1 way too long and usually its a good players issue (plane out right and overdraws). I am slightly CF as a general rule but I stay on the circle pretty will and exit is where I want it (maintain PP4 and 5 and stick tilts) Rhett's latest swings from NC right before Monday Qualifier www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=541753052115www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=541753461295

Dan, thanks for your reply. I have seen Andy last spring at one of the schools, and have worked with Nick Clearwater for more than several times and I have worked with George Hunt, darome, a couple of times for several hours.
All of them said to speed up the right arm in DS. But when I speed up the Rt Arm, Hips stops moving forward. So when I slide the hip? LOL, I keep the rt arm too long and I get spinny to hit that push slice.
My lessons went from S&T-darome's CP-S&T.
Like you, Dan, I played my best with CP-ish pattern but couldn't get my longer clubs high enough to compete at a different level. Until a couple years ago with S&T, I didn't know I could hit it higher draw with ball back and a open face.
Don't you think by leading with hip slide makes arms bit passive vs Speeding up Rt Arm#1 makes hips passive where makes you release hip tilt to eccentuate the high draw?
Thanks

If you are shifting out then down you better be able to straighten right arm fast. My only gripe with the CP pattern in darome with left arm shifted out to stance line. Tough for many to do. I'm sure many in the S&T community would say my right arm is too bent at 5 and 6 but its right on plane at P7. I see too many guys trying to do the S&T pattern that run out of right arm by impact and have rate of closure issues.

I am still committed and seeking success with S&T. I have good understanding of the fundamentals of it. I just need to incorporate right pieces to make it work better more often. I like the tempo and length of your swing. We might be similar in size as well. I saw a video of you and Dana doing different shots. I actually like sliding the HIPS vs speeding up the arms thought and holding the wedge as long as possible. Can you get a good high draw off of your driver by Hips lateral thoughts?
thanks

It's a shot I know I can hit under pressure. Stock drive is more of a soft draw (5 yards or so) and will cut the ball maybe 5 drives a month. I never think of my right arm.

Rhett made the cut at the EGolf event this week but won't get to play the weekend because too many guys finished inside the cut, at least he gets a check. He tripled his second to last hole and had 4 three putts but said he hit the ball amazing with sounds right considering he shot 145 with a triple and a bunch of putts. Hopefully he can drop a few putts next event and win. tarheel.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/tarheel10/event/tarheel107/contest/1/contestant/32/scorecard.htm

great golf swing...just can't get past that head moving back on the downswing..........when he is off whats his miss? Only moves back with the driver, hardly what it used to, and is something we are working on but he is rarely what I would call off. His miss with the driver I guess is an over draw but he is playing a slight fade throughout the ball as a stock shot and only misses left when trying to kill one. He is 13th in GIR and hits a lot of fairways considering he flies the ball over 280 yards and averages over 300 with two rounds over 330 yards so far this year. I would say he is one of the best ball strikers in the world day in and day out.

No need to defend his motion, which is brilliant....I was just pointing out the one feature that is "unique" in his motion (IMHO). I am definitely not someone who thinks we all should swing alike.

We are working on the head issue but when he keeps it stable he hits it about 20 yards shorter. Hard to convince a guy to drop 20 yards. I'm more concerned with rate of closure and keeping the club on the circle and exiting lower to hit the ball with as little curve as possible.

Interesting to me that he hits it so far with such a short backswing and a short finish. I think I could hit like this, but I can't seem to get anywhere close to that distance. How much of that is equipment?
