There's a vid out there where he does an entire segment of his exhibition from a bunker, tons of shots... I'll track it down somehow.

This is is the photo from the Greg Lavern book. The closest club I could find to it was a thing called a Lovett wedge. That thing is basically automatic out of the bunker - basically you just hit a inch behind the ball and out it pops. For a higher shot with that wedge you've got to flip it as you can't really play a cut lob shot. I couldn't really justify it being in my bag though and my wife uses it now. According to Lavern Moe lined up square and played a normal pitch shot but with his 'Sandy Andy'.

Looks like that is what he's using in the video.

Yeah. Might be the exact one, ya never know. It sure does look like it. For $10 it might be worth seeing if there's any magic left in it... or maybe flipping it to Todd Graves for a profit.

Cloran, do you use a specialist bunker club? I think you may have mentioned before that you did...

I tried it, but after working on bunker shots a lot I found myself to be better with a "standard" SW. For me, I just had to release my hands through the shot. I had been trying to hold on... probably something like what Moe was doing. After realizing that it was ok to really swipe at it, under-flip through the sand, I got really good.
I'll use different clubs now too. SW for most bunker shots, LW for high and very short shots, PW or even 9/8 iron for longer shots. All done in the same manner. I try to adjust my hand release (lol) speed for more precise distances, but I mostly just think... "Flip this f&@$er as fast as you can." Seems to work.

Pete Cowen's 'ripple effect' DVD was the eye opener for me... Once you've got the technique is amazing how easy bunker play really is!!
