When I lived in Atlanta I joined the Canongate golf clubs.
What had happened was when I first moved there in 2000, Atlanta was filled with all of these posh, private courses that wanted equity ownerships and requiring one to own $1 million+ homes in order to join the courses. That failed miserably and the properties became distressed. Canongate decided to purchase these courses and provide a unique membership plan where the members would designate their 'home course', but would actually be a member of all of the courses. The only difference with the home course is that you could make your tee time 7-days in advance versus the other courses you could only make it 3-days in advance.
They ended up having an excellent junior golf breeding ground that feature Mariah. So not only did you have kids that could play on quality courses with excellent practice facilities, but they also had junior tour events just for Canongate members along with being within driving distance of AJGA and IJGT events.
I've never seen Mariah play personally as she belonged to a course on the south side of town while I belonged to Windermere/Olde Atlanta on the Northside. My course featured Sloan Shanahan, who was ACC Freshman of the Year at Clemson this past year. And we will soon be hearing about Rachel Dai who had one of the best swings I had ever seen when she was just 12 years old (hopefully she hasn't changed it).
Everything I've ever heard about Mariah is how she is an excellent human being and even though her and Sloan were rivals, Sloan always said nothing but nice words about her. Pretty tough to come by for teenage girls that are competing against each other.
So I think Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis are going to be making some room for Mariah very soon.
