Yep, sure is. He's got another video of a junior girl with a great swing. Amazing how well he does that.

For the first time, I actually read slicefixer's Texarkana Encyclopedia. I was pretty surprised how similar his thoughts are to Lagpressure's. A lot of focus on pivot and going low and left.

That's one of the reasons I decided to take on the module work with Lag. I really liked Geoff's philosophy and teaching. More expert eyes may see differences, but I think there are a lot of similarities.

I found Geoff's Texarkana before I found anything else (TGM, Lag's teaching, Richie's blog, LBG etc)
It's a wonderful e-book/read

It's been awhile since I've read it. I couldn't figure out what he meant by the grip he wants. The setup he prefers was something I thought was a pretty good and interesting idea, but I've never been that interested in it.
Probably the tough thing for me is that I do need to get good explanations, preferably detailed, for me to buy into a teacher's philosophies. For the most part, Lagpressure has done that.
Slice does teach very similarly to what Lag does, but is not as adept at backing it up in a language I can understand and believe in as well as Lag. Plus, I found his 9-3 drill very vague.
That's not saying I think Slice is a bad teacher. I just think you're really not going to start to improve by reading the Encyclopedia. You really need to go see him for a live lesson.

I think you are right 3J.......I am reading through it now and my first impression is that this guy gets it.
I find as I am reading it I am hearing many things my old TGM teacher taught. Not detailed, but it seems to be from the same cloth.
anyone have contact info for SF?

oh and to be accurate the encyclopedia is something someone on the boards built from collating his posts, its not really a instructional book.
well supposedly part of the reason he disappeared from the boards was he is writing a very detailed book and ebook like SITD that should really help........and that man has had some serious personal tragedies from what I have read (lost his house in a natural disaster, lost his prized student in a car accident).

I think the 9-3 drill is pretty effective at establishing rhythm. I've used it before when I feel my timing is off and you need to just slow things down. It also helps relive tension and demonstrates how the club can square up without you actually having to do anything.

Geoof just OOzes personality and Passion for teaching... He WAS a heck of player--played with Freddy at Houston on a golf scholarship..won his share of events, in his mini tour days...He's Been there at the championship level (Pga Tour excluded, although he's taught guys who played on tour nationwide and PGA Tour)
Tremendous knowledge of HOW the golf swing works, and really hands on drills and things to get you IMMEDIATELY aware of what he wants you to accomplish...
The Texarkana Encly. was a compenium of his Golfwx posts done by a third-party..
They really don't get any better than Geoff,,,and his students (juniors to Div 1 players) are AMAZING to watch, as the mechanics are similiar--- but he's NOT a method teacher, so they all have a unique fingerprint...
Good news is website and book will be up soon...better news is he's likely coming to the East Coast to set up a permanent shop... There are some teachers who are top flight...Geoff is in that category... and just a GREAT guy to be around...
Any lesson with him would be pure!!!

but he's NOT a method teacher, so they all have a unique fingerprint... I disagree. I've seen him teach live and I've seen the method he teaches. Setup, grip, release, etc...all the same. I've been told he will work with a player on what they want if they ask, but when it comes to his pattern, it's really a method. I'm only on Module 2 of ABS. Some people ask me if I think it's a method. I really don't think quite so. Lag's core fundamentals/imperatives are the 4:30 line, the CP style release and the footwork. How you get there with those with the grip, address, takeaway, etc is up to you. IMO, there's a lot less mandatory stuff in ABS than SliceFixer. I think the release he teaches is something that I hope to achieve down the road. I think it's a release that when executed properly the pivot is working well post impact. When I got back into the game, Slice's posts/Encyclopedia was some of the first stuff I read and it got me agreeing on just how important the pivot is to the golf swing. Then Sevam1's stuff just further got me believing in it and then working with Ted Fort helped me understand the pivot a bit more. My kind of thought process *now* is that there are only 3 imperatives to strike the ball well, but there are a bunch of other characteristics that all good ballstrikers have in common. They may go about it different ways, but it's there. I think Slice's pattern addresses those characteristics. The only thing that concerns me about him now is how well he will take to this Web site thing. I had an acquantaince that owned a very popular newsletter in the days before the internet. It was estimated that he made about $500K a year (no kidding) just off this newsletter. Instead of embracing the internet and going full bore on taking his newsletter to the web, he took forever to get on the web, begrudgingly doing so, and went on the cheap as far as his Web site. He's fully operational now and has a pretty good Web site now, but the way he got onto the web cost him a lot of money. IMO, Slice's Web site is long overdue and if there's one thing I would suggest to him is to not go into it half-assed. I'm sure Slice isn't into teaching just for money, but I think he can have the joys of teaching and making money if he plays his cards right and does it swiftly. 3JACK

when I talked to him today, he talked about the web-site. and from how he spoke of it, it will be top shelf stuff and design.
going down on the 12th for a 1/2 day (6hours) of lessons.
I want to feel him out in a lesson setting , and likewise for him to me. If I dont like it,I will go to teacher #2 on my list.
