Where do you have the 'truth?'
The statistics are right there. You can pick them up right on the PGA Tour Web site.
And you can go on Shot Tracker and see the same thing in any tournament with any player.
This has also been proven by other statistical researchers as well.
I have not seen any evidence that your claims are remotely true. Instead, you have provided anecdotal evidence that appears to be haphazardly measured and analyzed.
Here's a look at Brendon Todd's 'wedge shots' on Sunday at East Lake. I mention Todd because he shot 66 at East Lake on Sunday...the lowest score of that round. In parenthesis is how close he hit those shots to the cup.
1. 25 yards from fairway (8-feet to cup)
2. 11 yards from bunker (13-feet to cup)
3. 16 yards from fairway (12-feet to cup)
4. 25 yards from fairway (6-feet to cup)
5. 15 yards from bunker (9-feet to cup)
That was it.
He had ZERO shots from 25 yards to 128 yards on the day.
And out of those 5 shots listed...only 1 of them was hit inside 7 feet where the expected make % is greater than 50%.
Meaning, he did not hit his wedge shots all that close to the hole and it required him to make a putt where the odds where greater he would MISS than make.
Here's a look at shots from Kevin Streelman's 64 in the final round at the Travelers:
1. 62 yards from fairway (27-feet to cup)
2. 60 yards from rough (31-feet to cup)
3. 101 yards from rough (42-feet to cup)
4. 94 yards from rough (10-feet to cup)
5. 14 yards from bunker (10-feet to cup)
6. 18 yards from fairway (5-feet to cup)
7. 112 yards from fairway (21-feet to cup)
8. 25 yards from fairway (12-feet to cup)
9. 123 yards from fairway (3-feet to cup)
10. 109 yards from fairway (9-feet to cup)
The Travelers is one of the lowest scoring tournaments on Tour each year which is why he had a lot more wedge shots. And he still hit 6 out of the 10 poorly. The difference was that he drove it incredibly well all week and on the final 7 holes he couldn't miss with the putter.
He ended up gaining 7.788 strokes on the field on the putting greens for the week.
