Today was my first day on a golf course in 2 years. I played 18 holes last summer, but it was a charity scramble so no score was kept and to me it doesn't count, lol. I was more drunk than sober anyway... lol.
Today it was raining and about 45*, but I had a good time. It was nice to get out there again. When I left the game I was probably a 12-13 HC... today I shot 49. 20 putts. I did manage to keep the ball in pay all day so that I have that going for me... Tons of stupid mistakes, but some glimmers of hope, too.
What do you guys think?
I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!!!!
... result: Pin high 20 ft. right of flag. Ball flight was a fade. Started on the flag and ended up 20 ft. right. Two putt for par.
... result: again, fade right of the pin. This time long by 5 yards. Three putted for bogey.
I'm working hard on Module 3 of ABS, but I still have a lot of CF going on post impact...
I hit a fade all day, but had zero range time and stepped from the car to the tee box so I had no idea what was going to happen. Needless to say I didn't play for the fade and my misses were all right.

Looking good to me! One thing...what clubs are those? They look like they have a hole in their backside.

I'd get a little more M2 going. I find when I do M2 well, it's easier for me to get M3 down.

I think your swing looks pretty good Cloran, looks like the winter practice has paid off!

Thanks G...
Hopefully it will be reflected in my scores as I pick up some more course time.

If you're an ABSer, stick with that. The last thing you need is my help! But where are your really flat vintage blades? And all your misses being right sounds good too. As my dad told me many moons ago, rule one of golf is taking the left side out of play. Rule two is taking the left side out of play.

The '60 Wilson DynaPowers haven't arrived yet, lol. Should be arriving today actually. The '71 Buttonback Wilson's I have are great, but I haven't bent them flat yet and the shafts aren't exactly what I want... I wanted to use the gamers I had bent flat for my first day out...
As soon as I can get the '60 Dynapowers bent they will be doing in the bag. Sticking with ABS for sure... but I appreciate all feedback so please don't hold back.

This was my morning range session before work today. Both shots resulted in a fade (3-4 yards)... I hit it horrid at the start, and by the time I took these videos I had things pretty well sorted out.
I've been working hard at incorporating a CP release, but when I did in fact feel like I had a CP release I was hitting some God awful push fades. The best shots were 3-4 yard fades, but there weren't that many. I can't draw the ball and focus on a CP release at the same time... It's impossible for me at this point. I am not closing the face hard enough through impact. It stays open to wide open, with the resulting fade/push fade combos.
I know Lag wants active hands, but I don't understand how anyone can actually feel that in such a short time span as 4:30 to impact. We're talking milliseconds here. At the same time he likes to see some wrist cock remaining post impact for the CP release... I must be WAY overdoing it because when I feel like I'm holding onto the impact alignments I push fade it. No two ways about it.
The swings I took video of represent what I've been trying to taking to the course. I have a little more knee bend through transition than my previous videos, but I really need to focus on it... If I don't make a conscious effort I just lose it all together.
I went back to the range this afternoon. Things went much better. M2 was there. My backswing thought was simply to move my shoulder blade. This thought lets me get a little longer backswing for some reason, and deeper too. When I focus on my hands or arms in the backswing I get very short. Finishing my backswing makes the rest of the swing much better.
I brought my "new" set of '60 Wilson Dynas to the range this afternoon... unfortunately the range was too packed and I couldn't video my swing.
I love, love, love them. I'm absolutely, positively, 100% sold on vintage irons. I was hitting the 2 iron at the 215 yard green and playing a nice fade to the front (maybe 205 or so). I was hitting it as high as my Mizuno Fli Hi, and the feeling was SO MUCH BETTER!!!
The 8 iron snapped in half under the hosel... but what do you expect for a $16.50 set of irons ;D
As always, I honestly appreciate any and all feedback. The modules from ABS have influenced my swing for sure, but I have a very long way to go until I get a real ABS swing. Until then I still want to play well and any help is much appreciated.

Glad to hear it is going well. I don't know anything about the modules (all 04:30 means to me is that I have another hour in bed before I have to get up and go to work), but would be interested to hear what anyone who knows a bit more would have to say.

Cloran, which module are you on? The first thing I noticed in the the DTL video was that at the top of your swing, your hands actually move toward the ball slightly. I noticed it because I would've expected them to either not move or move slightly downward. If I saw that in my swing, I would attempt to focus on dropping down into that 4:30 position from mod 1, which probably means that I would need to focus on getting my right elbow really tucked in to my side in front of my hip. I think that if you tried that, your sequencing would improve and you'd be able to focus on that hand/wrist release into impact that you've been working on with ABS. Let me put it this way, my swing was so flat in one of my recent range sessions, with the driver, I had to worry about clanking the head into the railing behind me. I'm not necessarily saying that that is where you want your swing to eventually be, but exaggerating it like that a couple of times seemed to really help. All the above are just my 2 cents. I'm obviously far far far from a good player, but I thought I'd try to help a fellow ABSer and R3Jer out.

Thanks Pava, I'm on M3. I've struggled with a major OTT move since I started playing golf. Now, I take the club back slightly under the plane, and then move on top to come down on plane. I feel like I'm taking the club straight back and then down the path both ways... which I'm obviously not. Tons of work to do... I did however play 9 holes today and shot a 42... with 5 pars! I don't think I've had 5 pars in 18 holes, nevermind 9...

Thanks Greg. I have plenty of work to do if I want to get to a 5 HC (my goal), but with 5 pars today I felt for the first time that all the work may be paying off. Playing a fade still makes me a bit uneasy after all the years of slicing the ball, but it plays better than a hook that's for sure. I held a few greens today with that high fade, felt pretty good having a one-way miss

I was in the garage tonight working on my module 3 work (CP release) and I started to focus on my swing plane. I've tried to rid myself of an OTT move. What I've managed to do is get the FEELING of straight back and straight through, but really it's more under plane going back and over onto the plane coming down... I don't like it.
I've tried swinging with a big loop under, but I just could never time it right. I think the problem was that I was still coming under plane on the way up to the top of my back swing.
Tonight I tried to get the feeling of moving the club back over the plane and coming DOWN onto it... In reality it looks like I'm on plane back and through.
I couldn't get it in high speed due to the lack of light... I think the motion looks much more on plane and from the inside through impact. I have much more of a pitch elbow and my arms are more pinned to my sides through and post impact. I'll have to take it to the range to see if I have something here, or another dead end...
