I was getting tired of my mixed wedges... mixed grinds, etc. I pulled the trigger on this set. Tripple Grind Sole High Performance Titleist Wedges from '96 I believe. I loved the look. Attachments:

... And after much internal debate I decided to get the Bushnell Medalist rangefinder. I had set enough money aside for a V2 Slope or even the 1600. I hate the idea that you can't post a score for HC if you use a rangefinder with slope. It's bogus! So a pro can have his caddie use a 1600 during a practice round and get all the slope numbers, write them down and use them the next day. What's the F-N difference!? I brought my internal struggle to my wife and acting as the Voice of Reason she said: "If it's illegal then why would you buy one?" She saved me at least $150, nice! Attachments:

I didn't know you couldn't post a handicap score with a slope rangefinder. I thought you just couldn't use it for tournaments. I'm probably going to get one in the next 6 months as I need something as I probably mis-club myself more than anybody alive. Nice wedges. Can you bend those?

The wedges are cast, just like the Vokey's... but I'm sure I can bend them. It's a soft metal. I bent my G40s 6* flat (cast 8620 SS).
The USGA says it's illegal to use a rangefinder w/ slope to post a HC round. Casual round, fine... HC round, nope. (note: that's why there are two versions of every Bushnell)
Even if you turn OFF the slope display... still illegal! The new Leopold Gx4 actually has a removable face plate. One is yellow, the other silver. When the yellow face plate is on the slope functionality is fully disabled... and it's STILL ILLEGAL!!
Insane. Who is it hurting to have the slope reading? God forbid someone lower their HC. Isn't sandbagging a bigger problem in golf? Who gets hurt when you give MORE strokes to your opponent?
The fact that you can get the numbers from a caddie or a yardage book, but not from a rangefinder absolutely baffles me. I would be allowed to have someone survey the land for me and use the numbers... but not a rangefinder with slope, lol. I am allowed to go to the course, take all the slope readings I want with the rangefinder, write them down, and use them the next time I play... but I can't use a rangefinder while playing a HC round if it has the slope feature? Really?
Part of me was saying: "It's BS, just buy it... it will help you select clubs, just don't use that feature when posting a score... blah, blah, blah." But like my wife said, if it's illegal- it's illegal, period.
... and don't get me started on the whole belly putter thing, lol!

Thanks, Cloran. I didn't know that about the handicap rounds. I can say that nobody followed that rule up in Georgia. I'm not sure I would either. Who is really going to know? Somebody could say that you are 'only cheating yourself', but I don't see the difference like you mentioned with the PGA Tour pros and this.
Belly putters don't bother me much either. I believe the fundamentals of putting are:
- speed/touch - green reading - aim - hitting it at your intended line
I have yet to find a piece of equipment that unfairly allows a golfer to get an unfair advantage that would help the golfer. A belly putter would probably be somewhat good at getting the ball at your intended line, but you still have to have aim, green reading and touch/speed.
AimPoint's aimcharts help with green reading, but there are too many factors involved as to why they may not break like the chart says, plus you can only use them on a planar slope from 20 feet in. And, somebody could always memorize the charts.
Edel putters help with the aim, but somebody could buy any putter off the rack from any mfg. and just use a lazer aimer and find the one that aims them the best. I'm actually stunned more pro shops and golf equipment stores don't do this.
I don't completely hate the groove rule. My problem with it is more that they have focused on the wrong thing and it cost a lot of golfers money to get conforming wedges.
USGA makes some screwy rulings, that's for sure.

I see what your saying about the rangefinders, and that's how I felt. But just having that seed of doubt in the back of my mind would bother me... am I cheating?
The rules are the rules. I'd hate to be "that guy" DQ'd from a tourney for using a rangefinder w/ slope.
I wonder what the boys over at Manzella's think about it? The vast majority over at Wrx came to the same conclusion I did.

Absolutely man... that's why I jumped on mine when he offered.
I was contemplating listing the machine + stand for $1,500 just to see if it would sell... but I'm having too much fun w/ it!

Update:
The wedges bent like butter... love 'em.
I'm hunting for a 3i + 4i hybrid. I have my eye on the 1st version Adams PNT... I need the open face. 909h, 585h, xcg, may work as well... but the Adams is my 1st choice.
I tried to kick the Rossa out of the bag w/ a Snake Eyes SV2 Tour (anser style) putter... didn't happen. The center shaft Rossa just works too well for me.
Everything else is good. I may swap the shafts in my irons, we'll see. I have some x200s lying around, but I'd need to shim them as they hosels are bigger than the tips. No big deal and doable.

Nice to hear. I have a standard Vokey 54* that I really liked. I may try to get that bent and if it snaps, so be it. But I'd love to get back to using that. The Mizuno is pretty good, but I just liked the Vokey better.
