The arc should not be big, even if you see one of the Putting Arcs there is only a very slight curve.
If you do employ a SBST should you be more bent over, bend your putter to accommodate the stance?

I don't think the lie angle of the putter matters. Dave Pelz has a good diagram in his book explaining it and I'll try to find it. Basically you make the exact same body motion with two putters with different lie angles, the only thing that may change is how far you stand from the ball. The problem in the shoulder motion you have to make. Perhaps a very upright putter would encourage that but I just can't imagine how it would work.
Personally I have no idea how you make the stroke unless you are 90* bent over.
I didn't mean to make this a SBST thread. Should I post a topic in the short game section?

The problem with the SBST stroke is that the lie angle of putters are at about 70*. If they were closer to 90*, then the shoulder movement would be a little more possible. I try to minimize my arc because I just don't want some big arc that I can't control at impact. I would suggest that anybody demanding to have a SBST may want to take a long putter, get it cut down to their normal putter length and putt with that since those lie angles are usually about 80* or so. 3JACK I have read from Geoff that the lie angle of your putter is determined by the angle formed by your upper arm and your forearm. He suggests take a picture of yourself facing sideways and get out a protractor and measuring this angle and this will be your recommended lie angle. This is part of the zig-zag-zig set-up. Not sure where I remember that from.

I don't believe so. It cost me $15. I could stick with most of it, but some of it was a bit unclear to me. I'm really waiting for his DVD with Elk to be coming out. It's supposed to be out sometime this month.

Yea guess so, not sure he wants it out there like that as that might be a technical glitch and its supposed to be behind a pay wall.

Hey waffle,
I had to delete that post since I don't think Geoff wants that to be given out for free. Geoff is a friend of the blog and his info and instruction is so top notch that it's well worth the $10 for his information.

i am with you guys on the I DO NOT UNDERSTAND SBST. but with geoff it is all about the shoulder movement. he only moves his shoulders. the left shoulder goes down on the backswing and the left shoulder goes up on the forward swing. somehow this creates a near perfect sbst. he says it can come a little to the inside on the backswing. on the followthru he wants it to go down the line. the hands and arms do nothing. that is the hard part for most of us. the whole key is how we use our shoulders. stop thinking about your shoulders moving in a arc.
