I was sifting through videos of my swing progression over the last several years and I noticed something that seemed to remain consistent through all of the swings. My left upper arm post P6 and all the way into P8 is stuck to my left chest and folding inward at the elbow, rather than extending and making a wider arc ( like I would like to see). I have always hated this aesthetically because it looks so cramped. I believe that in many ways the reason something "looks ugly" is because it is not well suited for what it is trying to accomplish.
My completely amateurish analysis of this problem looks like this:
I seem to have a very late release of PA4. I regularly get to P6 with my left arm still tight across my left pectoral. (This is clearly seen in the first DTL swing in the video) It seems to me because of this I have a hard time accelerating my left hand into and through the ball which is why I have to push my right hand forward commonly resulting in losing my right flying wedge ( which is a huge source of inconsistency in my ballstriking). My left arm post impact is folding up in response to this thrust of my right hand rather than continuing to swing uninhibited.
My question is "When should PA4 begin to release?" My intuition tells me I need to start releasing it sooner (perhaps starting at P5). My other question is "Should this be a focus of my practice?"
I am not looking for a bunch of swing critiques btw this video was made from completely different times and completely different places in my swing progression and I have realized I enjoy working on "Golf Swing" more than I enjoy Golf quite often, so I am happy to keep tryign to unlock the answer, but on this point I am seeking advice.
Thank you everyone for your contribution.
