Hi Everyone,
I saw some stan down the line pitches and during the downsswing, he uncocks and sets the wrist then turn left . No divot and the ball clicks away.
I am taught by my coach to swing the club, very handsy . When I am doing it right . it have tremendous spin and can stop in a dime ...
I am just wondering , if the stan method have less spin to it? and what are the advantages and advantages of both methods?
Thank you

When it comes to the short game you need speed and contact control. There are 5 keys to this.
1) Weight stays on the front foot 2) Hands stay ahead of the clubhead 3) Grip down on the club 4) Ball back in your stance 5) Accelerate through the ball
Even for pitch shots I do these same things. The only real difference is in the length of the stroke and I rotate the face open. Don't forget also to open your stance if you open the clubface.

Hi, Ringer, Thanks for your help.
I'm just very curious about how Stan Utley does his pitches, He uncock and hold his wrists while accelerate through and body open.
While what I learn is cock and uncock while turning. but dont turn left

The accelerating point is good. Sounds obvious, but my pitching improved a lot reading Tom Watson where he says to be quite aggressive with these shorter shots. Tempting to sit back and flip these shots up in the air.
Sorry. Not sure about the Utley stuff. I do have the book, but it is in storage somewhere. Didn't have a huge impact on me.
