When my son turned 2 years old I spent way too much money on a set of right handed junior clubs and a bag from golfsmith... now that he's 4.5 years old it turns out he's lefty. DOH!
When I'm chipping around in the back yard my daughter (3 yrs old and a righty like dad) uses one of my son's old clubs, and my son hits balls with the back of the other iron... he does quite well all things considered.
I promised him I'd get him a lefty set, but being so busy I just let it slip.
As fate would have it I got an email from the Wishon company last week. They were having a blowout sale of many of their heads trying to just get rid of the loose pieces, etc. They were selling their forged blade heads for $4.00... wedge heads for $2.00 etc. I was working so it took me 2 hours to get to the website from the time I opened the email. 99% of everything was gone, lol.
Except for the lefty stuff!! PERFECT! Christmas was 2 weeks away. I'll make my boy a set of irons for Christmas. My heart was warmed, lol. (I was able to grab myself an 8i and 5i to try out in the 555m forged muscleback blades. I shafted them with a couple of spine aligned, TTDG X200 shafts... I can't wait to hit them)
I picked up a lefty 2i hybrid head, a 4i hybrid head, and a wedge head. I grabbed a putter from PIAS for $9.99, and I got some misc. junior grips at golfsmith for $.77 a piece. I took the heads off a few clubs I had lying around and they fit perfectly in the 4h and the wedge. I butt trimmed the putter and regripped all three clubs. The 2i hybrid has a .335 hosel and as of this moment I can't find anything in that size. At least not for a price I'm willing to pay.
Long story short, I built my boy's set tonight. His first set of lefty irons will consist of a 4i hybrid, a forged wedge, and an anser style putter... with STIFF steel shafts, lol!!!I'm thinking about bending them 6* flat
I can't wait to give them to him. Here's some pics:
EDIT: OOPS WRONG PIC, LOL!!!
