I was just wondering how many people use the line on there ball to line up putts? I just watched Geoff magnum's putting video I liked it alot does anybody know if he uses the line on the ball to line up putts?

I tried it and it's just not for me. On putts under 10' or so I sometimes still play around with it, but anything longer and it's too much trouble. I'd aim the line and then get over the ball and think it was off by a hair... re-aim... repeat. I do better facing a part of the ball that has no markings straight up and making my focus hazy.

Geoff has a different method of using the line on the putts, but I couldn't get it to work. I remember asking David Orr about using the line of the ball and he said that the study results show almost no difference.
If you think about it, I believe one can aim slightly better looking face on, but it's tough to align a ball where you want it, then when you step up to putt the ball, the line will look weird.

Odd as it seems, I darken the line with a sharpie and then putt with the line perpendicular to my line (parallel to the face). I find that when I aim the line on the ball with the line of my putt, I get a little to anxious if the line is a bit off. With it perpendicular I don't have that problem, but I still get the benefits of lining it up.

I use it.
I know for sure it helps me.
Curious if that changes after a properly fit Edel Putter.

I used to. Then I started to realize how much it would flip me out if I couldn't get the line just exactly how i wanted it. It was probably doing more harm than good to my confidence because of that.
I decided to ditch it and just go to a one look and go athletic style of putting. I am statistically the same putter as before I changed but I take a lot less time, and I definitely lag better.
