Mark Sweeney of AimPoint Golf (www.aimpointgolf.com) was kind enough to tell me that there is a Professor from Columbia University that has done his own version of the 'Putts Gained' statistic that they believe will be used by the PGATour.com Web site. Here's some of the rankings from 2010 season.

So this should be read as Luke Donald gains 0.8 of a stroke per round? How is this calculated?

Yes, I believe that's correct. So over a 4 round tournament, he gains about 4 strokes on the field. How they figure it out, not really sure.
