Since we have other ABS students on this forum and there is an interest from some members as to how it's going. So this thread will deal ONLY with Module 1 and how we are doing and our thoughts on it. For other questions, thoughts, etc on Lag's teachings just go to the Lag Erickson thread.
For me I'm on day 10 of the module program and have done roughly 1,080 reps so far. I'm doing 160 reps a day right now so I can be on pace to have done 3,000 reps by Feb 26 (my 3rd week in the program). I would like to get into Module 2 on March 5th or so, but that depends on how well Lag thinks I've mastered M1 enough.
I'm certainly getting on the elbow plane when I swing. I was at the PGA SS using one of their practice bays that has a 2 camera setup and I'd say 90% of the swings were on the elbow plane (4:30 line)
I haven't hit a lot of balls since joining the program because of the weather, but it has caused me to swing out to the right and I hit a lot of draws.
I just got my IPT's bent 4* flat (they are -1/2" shorter so they effectively play 5* flat). I noticed that doing the modules the swing really flattens out and with going to pitch elbow, it causes you to 'sit down.'
I've got some Hogan 67 Percussions coming and I will buying some Hogan Apex PC's tonight. Then I'll likely be done for awhile purchasing clubs unless a super cheap persimmon driver that I like comes by.
I haven't played since doing the Module, but I'm supposed to play this Friday.

I am pretty good at module 1. I watched the video and supplement video carefully several times before going ahead and trying it. My form was pretty good from the get-go, but I really lacked strength in the wrists. So my biggest advance has been in wrist strength. It has also promoted better axis tilt, and made me aware of the 4:30 line. Now the 4:30 line is a big lightbulb but in my full swing I'm still not coming down through it. I'm starting to get there now because module 5 addresses this. Some people will reap immediate benefits from module 1, but I did not. I think better players will benefit quickly with module 1.
I still do module 1 some times, and do module 2 regularly which includes module 1. A couple of months after advancing from module 1 I kicked of a video to Lag to check I was still doing it OK and he noticed there was some reverse weight shifting going on - so it's good to regularly check these things.

I think I'm getting pretty good at Module 1, but the daily practice is needed because sometimes I fall back into over-accelerating the arms. I think I've got the land hand drill down (I had the left hand too far away from the body). The left wrist is what needs strengthening for me because I've got the right hand and both hand drills down pretty well. But part of that was changing my left hand grip on the club.

The Module 1 work is mainly (say 90%) a hands/wrists drill. It's setting up on the 4:30 line, firing the hands. I wouldn't focus on the shoulders at this point.

The person in the video doesn't appear to be doing it right to me. I think he needs to have more axis tilt.
He's also pivoting too much throwing his arms at the bag. And his right heel comes up off the ground and his hands are too far away from the body. I think people start thinking so much about post impact pivot thrust and think that this drill wants you to pivot hard, but it really a movement of the hands and the wrist and avoid throwing or swinging the arms.
Not trying to give away Lag's work here, so let's be careful what we talk about here. But Cloran is right, it's really a hands/wrists drill and using the hands properly from the 4:30 line.
Hit some balls again today and it went better. Still some difficulty going to the 5* flat irons but when you catch one flush, it goes really well. One thing I realy like about the flatter irons is it takes misses left out of the equation. Of course, you're likely to miss right but if you can get the swing down flat enough you'll take those out of the equation as well.
The lightbulb that has gone on for me is to get on the 4:30 line with pitch elbow and once I feel the elbow in pitch position, I then fire my hands.
When I'm on the range, I'll usually bring my impact bag with me. Do about 40 drills and then hit 20 balls. Finding the 4:30 line really isn't an issue anymore. But sometimes I start firing th hands too early. So I just think 'get into pitch, then fire.'
I'm actualy hitting the driver really well doing this.

Lag just e-mailed me back and said my hand and wrist motions are spot on, I just need to incorporate a little pivot which I don't think will be too hard. I think that's the initial problem for people getting into M1, they think too much about pivot and don't concentrate on the wrist and hands (and to a lesser degree, the forearms) action first and then work with the pivot.
I'm figuring by early March I'll move into Module 2.
