Do you try to run the ball up from 60-75 yards out or just lob it up ladybugs pin and hope the ball stops on the firm green (assume a flat green after the false front).
I suspect the better play is to hit it past the hole and hope you drain a long one because the firm green won't let you get it close.

I just assume this is a hole on which par is a good score and hit it past the hole.

That's the tricky part. Is par a good score with wedge in your hand after your tee shot on a "normal" green except for the big false front and pin tucked just past the false front? Assume no real trouble being long on the green. I know there are imperfect facts here. Looking for general guidance. False fronts give me fits.

I say hit it past the hole.
The big fear is that you don't hit it hard enough and it rolls back down the false front. And let's say that happens...I find getting up and down in 2 off a false front to be difficult...even if the ball is on the fringe.
Plus, the ground is more unpredictable thant he air. You can hit two shots the same and one may roll to a foot of the flagstick and the other can take a bad bounce and not get up the false front.

I agree. It has taken me years and countless bogeys to realize that just because you have a wedge for your second shot doesn't guarantee one a birdie on a par 4.

False fronts give me fits. #1 Par is always a good score, unless it is a short par 5. #2 Who cares if I have a wedge or a 2 iron I don't want to come up short on a false front and still have the same obstacle to contend with. No worse feeling to me in golf than having to contend with the same difficulty on back to back shots. #3 it isn't like you have to hit it 30 yards past the hole, just play it to the middle and you still should have a reasonable look at a birdie putt.
