COURSE: Rio Pinar CC
BALL: Bridgestone B330
IRONS: Srixon Pro 100
Making some progress on the swing, but can't quite get all of the pieces together, so I scheduled another lesson with George. I think it's the right move because I know in part what is tripping me up, but fixing it is puzzling. Course is very wet because we've had rain every single day for the past week and a half.
#10 - Pull-cut down the middle. Pretty good 3-wood up the right side followed by a nice SW to 15 feet, but missed the putt for birdie (E)
#11 - Good driver that found the fairway. Hit a PW to 10 feet and made the birdie (-1)
#12 - Hit a driver well, but found the left rough. Good 6-iron to 20 feet. The pin was an illegal pin position and going uphill and I left it woefully short, but made the par putt (-1)
#13 - Ugly 5-iron that went short of the bunker. Pretty good pitch to 7-feet, but missed the par save with an ugly putt and took bogey (E)
#14 - Pull-cut that went down the middle. Hit a PW over the green. Ugly flop that turned out well and made the par save (E)
#15 - Pulled a driver into the left rough. Then hit one of the greatest shots of my life with a 7-iron, that I never saw to about 3-feet and made the birdie. (-1)
#16 - Good driver down the middle. Had a tough lie though and took out a 3-hybrid and hit it well. Pushed a SW to 30-feet. First putt went about 4-feet bye, but I made the par putt (-1)
#17 - Hit a 4-iron well, but missed the green to the right. I had been working on some things with pitch shots and chips and flops and it was working as I put this to about a foot and made par (-1)
#18 - I had a feeling this ball would cut, so I aimed way left and it did and found the right rough. Weird because my rangefinder said 178 with the pin in the back. I just wanted to get into the middle of the green, which is abuot a 7-iron which I typically hit it about 170 and I would be hitting it low. Hit it perfect...or at least I thought as it flew the green and went into the junk. Took an unplayable and then knocked in a pitch shot for par (-1)
#1 - Good driver down the left side. Ugly 3-wood, but wound up okay. Hit a SW onto the green and 2-putted for par (-1)
#2 - Good driver down the left side. Ugly 7-iron and then I hit a great flop to 3-feet and saved the par (-1)
#3 - Ugly pushed 8-iron. Lipped out the pitch shot and made par (-1)
#4 - Good driver down the right side but it kicked into the rough. Pulled a PW but still found the green and 2-putted for par (-1)
#5 - Good driver down the middle. Then a big pull with a 9-iron. Good flop with a SW, but missed the par save from 8-feet (E)
#6 - Hit a driver well, but pulled it. Then a 5-iron punch out followed by a well struck PW that I pulled a bit. Chipped on a made par (E)
#7 - Hit a 4-iron well, but short of the green. Good pitch shot, but this was a tough pin placement and I missed the putt and made bogey (+1)
#8 - Pulled a driver and it hit a tree and bounced out. Here is where I think I discovered something and I just beautifully flushed a 9-iron to 15 feet, but missed the birdie. (+1)
#9 - Good driver down the middle followed by a decent 8-iron and 2-putted for par (+1)
THOUGHTS: Afterwards I video'd myself some more and the new discovery has definitely made some improvements to my mechanics. I'll convey that to George tomorrow. But the one mechanical problem is still there, which is why I wanted a lesson so we can go over it and figure it out.
Other than that, the hard work is slowly paying off. I really liked the progress I made with the work I've done on short game shots and I think I'm putting pretty well.
