Hey all,
Played Fort Walton Beach Municipal today with a good junior friend of mine, shot 75 two days ago playing with him there for my career low round so went again today to see if I could back it up with another good one.
#1 (Par 5): High draw on the left side of the fairway, 3 wood hit a little low but got up there for a good layup, sand wedge to 15 ft. 2 putted for par (E)
#2 (Par 4): Nice high draw into the fairway, solid 9 iron but was pulled to about 25 ft, 3 putt for bogey (+1)
#3 (Par 3): Slightly thin 6 iron on the front fringe, 3 putt from about 20 ft. Missed two short ones on this hole and the last one. (+2)
#4 (Par 4): High hook into the left woods, really nice punch 4 iron through all the trees to roll up to 5 yards short of the green. Nice pitch to 5 inches, tap in for par. (+2)
#5 (Par 5): Nice high draw 3 wood short of the bunker, nice layup 5 iron to leave about 100 yards over water. Nice gap wedge to about 5 ft, missed the birdie putt. (+2)
#6 (Par 3): Tough downhill and then uphill par 3 over water with a two tiered green. Nice high draw 4 iron to the left side of the green, 2 putt par. (+2)
#7 (Par 4): High push with no draw into the right trees. Landed on a root so I had to punch out. Terrible sand lie with about 105 yards left. Like an idiot, I tried to hit a high one over the tree right in front of me but it went through somehow and ended up on the green, 2 putt bogey. (+3)
#8 (Par 4): Nice high draw drive, hit kind of a weak 4 iron slightly short and left of the green, hit a dumb pitch/flop but didn't work out well, somehow made the 20 footer for par. (+3)
#9 (Par 4): High hook into the left woods. Nice punch out to leave about 20 yards. Hit the pitch too par and 2 putted for bogey. (+4)
#10 (Par 4): Nice high draw drive, hit a 6 iron to the middle of the green, real close but no birdie. (+4)
#11 (Par 4): High over draw into the left light rough. Great pitching wedge to about 12 ft, lipped out the bird. (+4)
#12 (Par 3): High draw 5 iron over water to about 20 ft, should have hit 4 iron. Really close again, but missed the bird. (+4)
#13 (Par 5): Nice high draw drive, nice 3 wood layup, great pitch from about 30 yards to 5 feet, lipped out the bird. (+4)
#14 (Par 4): Nice high draw drive, pushed a gap wedge from a 100 yards to the right fringe, not a good lag putt but made the uphill come-backer from 7 ft for par. (+4).
#15 (Par 3): Nice high draw 4 iron to about 15 ft. Finally the course gives me one back. (+3)
#16 (Par 4): Toughest hole on the course, long par 4 to an uphill two tiered green over water. High push to the right rough, layup with a pitching wedge because a tree was in front of me, nice gap wedge to get to the second tier, 2 putt from 12 feet for bogey. (+4)
#17 (Par 5): Shorter par 5. Great high draw over the bunker, left with about 210, hit a 5 wood nicely with a high draw but it landed on the middle of the green and shot to the back fringe. Unfortunate 3 putt from about 50 feet. (+4)
#18 (Par 4): Nice high draw. Nice high draw 8 iron to the front, 2 putt par. (+4)
40 - 36 / 76 (+4)
FIR: 9/14
GIR: 11/18
Putts: 34 (counting fringe putts, not sure if you count those or not)
Ball striking is really good right now, playing my backup set here in FL has helped me a lot with standard lies, weak hosel push fade shots with my Titleist 690 blades are 4° flat have turned into solid high draws with my Cleveland CG Reds at standard lie.
