Played with my dad today at Rio Pinar. Florida weather...is insane. It was hot, but breezy when we started. Then on #4 green, I honestly believe the heat index got the highest I ever experience playing golf. If you would've told me that he heat index was 120*, I would've believed it. Then...the rain came...for about 5 minutes. Then the weather was quite nice, probably high 80's and breezy.
#1 - Good drive that went straight down the middle, but over-shot the fairway and was up against the fairway bunker. I just hit a 7-iron down there. A good SW to 12 feet, good speed--mediocre read and made par (E)
#2 - Hooked a driver by the trees. Didn't really have a shot and hit it short. Mediocre pitch and a 2-putt for bogey. (+1)
#3 - I was using my Wishon 7-iron and flushed one to 20 feet. Good putt, but just missed and made par (+1)
#4 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a so-so SW to 30 feet. Really, a good 2-putt from here and made par (+1)
#5 - Pushed one into the water. Dropped. Hit one short. Pitched on and a 2-putt for double (+3)
#6 - Little toe hook in the rough, laid up with a 4-iron. Hit a SW to 15 feet. Awful putt, but made par (+3)
#7 - Ugly open face block-cut into the woods. Punched out. Chipped on, 2-putted for double (+5)
#8 - Hit a driver into the woods. Punched out. Hit a SW on. 2-putted for bogey (+6)
#9 - Toe hook into the trees. Hit a great shot to 15 feet. 2-putted for par (+6)
#10 - Decided to keep the driver in the bag. Hit 3-wood hard, but hooked it into the trees. Hit a good hybrid, but it hit the trees. Hit an 8-iron onto the green, really good shot. 2-putted for par (+6)
#11 - Hit a 3-wood off the tee about 270 yards. I pushed it, but wound up okay. Hit PW to the back of the green, almost made the birdie putt and made par (+6)
#12 - Nice 3-wood down the middle. Hit it about 255 into the wind. The Titliest 910F-d with the Talamonti, when struck well...really good stuff. Hit a nice 8-iron onto the green. Kinda crazy putt over a hill and had perfect speed, but mis-read how much left it would break at first. But, made the par (+6)
#13 - This hole is annoying because it's about 210 yards and the tee is crowned instead of flat and it slopes upward. So I took a decent swing with a 5-iron, but missed left. Good pitch to 3-feet and saved par (+6)
#14 - Another hole with a tee that is not flat and I pulled this one, but wound up perfectly outside of a poor lie. Pulled the 9-iron a bit . Hit a great pitch to a foot and made par (+6)
#15 - Hit a 3-wood hard, but pushed it into the woods. Punched out. Pitched on and 2-putted for bogey (+7)
#16 - Decided to take the driver out because the wind was in our face. Hit one perfectly down the middle. Then a pull draw with the 3-wood, but had a shot. Great SW to 15 feet over some trees. Canned the birdie putt (+6)
#17 - Pulled a hybrid into the bunker. Blasted on, 2-putted for bogey (+7)
#18 - Big driver down the middle, but had another tough lie. Toed a 9-iron to 12-feet. Drained the birdie (+6)
THOUGHTS: Well, when I hit the driver or 3-wood down the middle or not into trouble...I played well. When I didn't, it was bogey or double bogey.
I do think there are some things 'wrong' with the Wishon driver. I will post it up in my WITB thread. I think it's getting there.
