A fad? Some find it really helpful? Would like to hear what some of you have to say if you have tried it?

I think it's a fad because...it was a fad about 7 years ago.

If it wasn't for the stigma I would have switched to a Long putter ( not belly, Long like mid chest) several years ago. Of course after I cured my yips earlier this year with the short putter I now am very pleased with my putting so no reason to change.
My only worry with switching is that I fear they are going to try and put the cat back in the bag and if so going back would be awful if you really got good with the long/belly putter.

I honestly don't see the advantage but I don't have an issue with it.
Just my opinion.

I had used long putter on and off . I was a yipper . And my best stroke with a long putter is place the shaft in between my right index and thumb . And the butt of putter pivot around the stenum . Or belly putter pointing to my tummy .
I say don't be too caught up with the type of method. Rather more important ,focus on the result, controlling of the speed, direction and roll .
