Hi all, I don't grip my clubs myself, but lately, almost all my iron grips have become loose in the butt section, as the grip somehow has moved down a bit and the butt end twists around. I use rubber wrap grips and I think only tape is applied ... I wouldn't know if there are other methods, or if this is standard method. I used to think grips were just glued to the shaft, LOL. Anyway, any ideas why these grips seem to be sliding such that the butt part of the grip can literally be bent, since there's no iron shaft at that part? Any fix to this? Thanks.

Might be due to having .600 butt diamater grips and a .580 butt end shaft.
Typically, you can get away with this.
I know I've had the occasional issue with this when it comes to using the air compressor to install the grip on. Some grips, very randomly, will get loose towards the butt end. I'll try to see if I can take the air bubble out. If I can't, then I get a new grip.

That sounds about right. Unfortunately, I bought a whole bunch of those grips, hehe. I'll mention it when I have those re-installed, and maybe they can get at a solution. Thanks a lot, man.

Probably just some extra tape around the butt end should do the trick. If they are air-installing them, then they just need to be a bit more careful.
I had some Golf Pride Tour Wraps that when I air-install them, they very randomly come loose towards the butt end. When you air-install them, if you're not careful...some grips will produce this big air bubble and if you keep using air, they will explode on you (I haven't had one explode on me). But, when the big air bubble is formed....even if you let the air out...you've stretched the grip too much and it will be too big for the shaft.

I don't think they use air. I think they use tape then put a liquid around it ... I think to make it slippery enough to slide through. The grips I got are Tacki Mac wraps, and I think they are .600 diameter, and I had them installed on some 60's irons. Maybe more tape will do the job. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, I don't know many shafts that are .580 anymore. IIRC, the vintage clubs are more likely to be .580. Even still, that typically isn't a problem if the grips and the shaft don't match.
I don't have much experience with Tacki Mac grips. I also only know a few people that use air for grip installation, although I think it's far superior because I can always take off the grip and put it on a new club.
For instance, I'm probably going to re-shaft my Wishon irons in the next couple of months do to the MOI matching and I think I want to go with taper tip shafts (using a shim). But, I have IOMIC grips ($17 a pop) on them. But since I air installed them....I can just take them off and put them onto the new shafts. Roughly saving myself $140 or so.

Have them put taper wraps of build up tape on before they use the doubles sided. They won't slip then.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll mention those ideas. Hopefully, they work, as I'm liking these grips.
