Played Stonecrest Golf Club which is just outside The Villages, FL with my dad and a couple of friends. Pretty nice day today. About a 1-club breeze. But otherwise 75* and nice.
#1 - Never saw the tee shot, but apparently it hooked into the fairway bunker. Actually hit a good fairway bunker shot with a 5-iron and then a SW onto the green. Tough first putt that I left short, but made a nice 6-footer for par (E)
#2 - Extremely tough hole, 195 yards, into the wind into a *small* island green. I hit a 5-iron a bit high in the face and into a pot bunker. Just got it out of there. Chipped on and made the putt for bogey (+1)
#3 - Deceiving hole and I found the fairway bunker because I thought I could carry it. Hit an 8=iron out that wasn't well struck and missed the green right. Little too much on the pitch, but made the 7-footer to save par (+1)
#4 - Hooked this one and it almost went into the water. Hit my next shot onto the green, but had a 40 footer for birdie. First putt had the line, but about 3-feet short, made the par save (+1)
#5 - Good driver down the middle followed by a nice 9-iron to a back pin and a good 10-foot putt for birdie (E)
#6 - Didn't quite catch a 7-iron, but it went at the target, about 15 feet away and made that birdie (-1)
#7 - Good driver down the middle, but a weak SW that left me with a 35 footer and a tough putt. Great read, but missed 1 foot short and made par (-1)
#8 - Big driver down the middle, about 290 yards and slightly uphill. Hit a 9-iron to the back of the green. First putt went just bye, 3-feet leftover. Made the par save (-1)
#9 - Over-draw that went thru the fairway bunker. Difficult lie, so I just used a hybrid down the middle. In between clubs, so I choked up on a 9-iron. 2-putted for par (-1)
#10 - Good driver down the middle. Unfortunatley, this was the one par-5 I hit a great driver but it did me little good as you have to lay upu with an iorn. I did that with a 6-iron and got screwed with a bad lie in the fairway. Hit a great 7-iron from that bad lie and 2-putted for par (-1)
#11 - nice 7-iron to 15 feet. Missed short and made par (-1)
#12 - Hit a driver well, but I was up by a collection of pot bunkers and had my feet in one of the bunkers. Just got it out of there. But a pitch and a 3-foot putt for par (-1)
#13 - nice driver followed by a nice 9-iron to 15 feet. Couldn't quite made the read and made par (-1)
#14 - Hit a 9-iron to 20 -feet. Had the idea, but didn't quite made the read and made par (-1)
#15 - Big driver up the middle. Shot of the day here, 8-iron, uphill with the ball above my feet, to 3-feet and made birdie (-2)
#16 - Hit the driver a little left, but okay. Hybrid finds the greenside bunker. Nice bunker shot to 6-feet and made the birdie (-3)
#17 - Good driver down the middle. Decent SW. Little hard on the putt and made par (-3)
#18 - hooked one left off the tee. Tough lie, but hit a 9-iron on. Tough putt that I hit 5-feet bye, but made the comebacker.
THOUGHTS: Good day putting and thought I struck it well on the back nice. Some things are starting to really come together.
