My younger one, since day one, has this bad habit of jumping during impact. I suspect at the same time, this habit invites early hip extension. Not really sure it is the egg or the chick.
Over the years, I say what I say and she does what she can. The tendency has always been there.
I came across this video which sounds quite interesting. What do you guys think? (now I understand some of you are teachers and whatever you say is ok with me)
I am trying to find a more effective way to share with her not to early extend short of reiterating the same thing which obviously does not work very well.

That seemed like a verbose way to talk about the idea of learning to maintain your spines inclination to the ground, which I agree is a major component that when missing contributes to early extension.
I honestly think that whole video could have taken 45 secs and been much less complex.

How much early extension does she have?

Does she early extend or does she fail to regain flexion?

Thanks guys. I am not sure how to answer those questions, so we just went down to the basement and videoed her swinging an iron (not hers:) and her own driver. Sorry about the poor lighting and fuzzy quality,,,wish i can slow it down, but does it seem to you guys when she swinged harder with the driver, she jumped and thus her hips bumped forward?

That doesn't look like early extension to me at all. If anything she gets a little upright during her backswing and then you can watch as she transitions from p4-p5 she actually gains additional flexion and lateral flexion in her lumbar and thoracic spine, this drops her head toward the ball noticeably. Her pelvis doesn't translate towards the ball at all during the downswing that I can tell going frame by frame.
That is a beautiful overall motion. The only thing I would change about it personally would be to get her to work with a little more upright takeaway of the club combined with working on keeping her shoulder turn steeper, that way she could get rid of the compensatory maneuver that causes the head dip. Honestly if she is hitting it great I would change nothing.
Also I am amazed her footwork is that stable while wearing crocs...

good eye rohlio. her backswing is getting flatter and flatter. perhaps a steeper shoulder turn along with keeping the spine angle may help? good eye!
those crocs are for basement use, from couple yrs ago, too small:)
sorry to torture you looking at this horrible film by frame:(
time for me to start a thread to see what cameras you guys use these days...

At setup the weight is back in the heels. It makes sense that in making a dynamic move her weight is going to move forward toward the toes. When this occurs, she moves her tush and head forward to re-center herself. Because she's gotten closer to the golf ball, she early extends to give herself some room. There's likely more to it than that, but this is the bulk of it and I'd get her set up with her arms hanging a bit more and what will feel like her weight on her toes. Her distance to the ball may change. Arms hang a bit more, weight a bit more toward the toes. On a separate note, she rolls the clubhead under plane and doesn't quite cock her wrists soon enough. This change will pre-set a little more wrist cock and will help clean up P2 and P3 as well, though I think that work should still be done there to stop the re-route (which she does far better than most!) from P3.5 to P4.5. I think you know the "P"s but if you do not just ask. Executive summary: fix the setup and shoot new video. See what changes.

Thank you Erik for your astute observations as well. Her weight hanging to the heel has been an old problem and clearly you picked up that for us.
She used to set her club very early, almost immediately. I think now she does the opposite. By what stage in terms of P's do you guys recommend the beginning and finish of the wrist cock?
currently on the road, perhaps in a week, I will try another video with the things you guys have suggested in mind.
Thanks!
