Any suggestions for a course in/near Ft. Lauderdale? I've played the Blue Monster a few times but its a bit far away and not my favorite course besides.
I apologize for interrupting the war of words going on in other threads....

Pembroke Lakes is supposed to be good. Never played there myself.
Then you have the Soffer course at the Turnberry Isle Resort in North Miami about 30 mins away.
You've got PGA National about 1 hour away, straight up I-95.

Is Weston Country Club decent? I think they played an FSGA event there and usually the FSGA plays some pretty nice golf courses. I don't know if it's private or not. 3JACK

My in-laws are social members. I think it's private. I might try to weasel my way on the next time I'm down.

thanks for the rec's. i'm looking into both Pembroke Pines or Soffer although it looks like you have to stay at the fairmont to play soffer. has anyone played either?
are there any very nice private courses there (as I may be able to get on)?

Colony West in Tamarac (right next to Ft. Lauderdale) used to be a good course. Lot's of history there...

Colony West used to be one tough track. Would love to play it again (after 35 years! Oh my where's have the years gone?)

thanks for the advice - I ended up playing plantation preserves as i couldn't get onto any of the other courses due to my late booking.
I like the course for the price and got a 4 hour 15 min round starting at 12.45p on a Saturday. back nine was 10 strokes lower than the front as i was on or right next to green on 8/9 holes. front was a disaster but i haven't played in 3 months and am trying to get the pitch elbow move down. funny game.
