Again, at Windermere. During the winter they do an 18 hole shotgun. We started on #6 and I used the IPT irons unless specified otherwise.
#6 - 3-wood off the tee...decent. Hit a 4-iron from 180 into the green and hit it well, but lost it a bit right (tough downhill lie). Had an awful lie in the deep rought and knocked it to 5 feet which was a great pitch. Made the putt (E)
#7 - 7-iron, nice little draw to 15 feet. 2-putted. (E)
#8 - Poor drive right, had a 4-iron into the green with the ball well above my feet. Hit an Apex PC 4-iron to 5 feet. Awesome shot. Made the birdie (-1)
#9 - Decent drive right down the middle. Hit a solid driver off the deck and wound up just short of the green and off to the right. Hit a nice LW, but it checked on me. 2 putted from 15 feet (-1)
#10 - Poor drive, blocked to the right. Found my ball in the weeds, it's a short hole and chopped a SW onto the green and 2-putted from 30 feet (-1)
#11 - 3-hybrid nicely to 20 feet. 2-putted for par (-1)
#12 - Poorly struck driver that wound up down the middle only 240 off the tee. Hit a nice Apex PC 6-iron to about 25 feet and 2-putted (-1)
#13 - Good drive over the fairway bunker and in the middle of the fairway. Hit a beautiful 8-iron to 1 foot, tapped in for birdie (-2)
#14 - Big drive down the middle. Went for it in two, hit it well, but it faded and pushed a bit and took one bounce into the drink. Caught a SW fat (need to think about some forged wedges to change those lies as well). Then vertical hinged a SW to a foot and tapped in (-1)
#15 - Horrible block into the hazard. Hit a great 5-iron to 5 feet made the putt for par (-1)
#16 - Caught this driver off the toe but it wasn't awful. This is a goofy hole so I found the creek. Hit Apex PC 6-iron to 30 feet and 2-putted for bogey (E)
#17 - Awful 6-iron into the green...really thin and found the bunker. This bunker has no sand in it and I did the ole bounce off the sand and skull the ball deal over the green. Chipped on and lipped out a putt from 10 feet for bogey (+2)
#18 - Decent drive down the left side. Had a hybrid into the green, very good shot, but a little long and went into the bunker leaving a very tricky sand shot. Hit a decent sand shot, but to 10 feet and missed the putt for birdie (+2)
#1 - Toe hooked a driver into the left fairway bunker. First time I've hit out of a fairway bunker in months and I hit it fat. Then hit a nice SW to 3-feet and made the putt (+2)
#2 - Mediocre Apex PC 3-iron to the back left part of the green. 3-putted from a hellacious 40 feet. Lipped out the 6 footer for par...hit it too hard. (+3)
#3 - Best driver of the day, right down the pipe. Hit an ugly 3-wood (tough lie though) and wound up to the right of the right bunker. Hit a pitch LW to 1 foot and tapped in for birdie (+2).
#4 - Good hybrid off the tee, but something was weird because the entire group was far shorter off the tee than we normally were. So I wound up with a Apex PC 8-iron instead of a wedge on this hole. Stuck the 8-iron to 15 feet and made the birdie. Really good read on this putt (+1)
#5 - Terribly thin Apex PC 6-iron (the lead tape on my IPT 6-iron fell off, so I wanted to use the Apex PC instead). Found the bunker. Hit the bunker shot to about 10 feet and rolled in the putt. (+1)
Score: 33-39 = 72 (+1)
Fwy: 8/13
GIR: 11/18
Putts: 28 (sure didn't feel like it)
Scramble: 4/6
Went to the range afterward and found I really need to focus on my knee flex with the swing changes and the clubs being flatter. And I need to do it with every club, even the driver.
Came home and saw my 67 Hogan Percussions arrived. They look great, can't wait to try them out toorrow.
