Just came off a lesson on Saturday with George. I played 18 aftewards and played quite well, so I wanted to get out some golf today and then practice what we went over come Monday.
It was gorgeous out yesterday, about 80* and no wind. Today there was a 2-3 club wind and it was about 68* out.
#10 - Good driver down the middle followed by a decent 3-wood down the middle. Toed a 5-iron, but found the green. I had the read at dead center 0*, but I was off by about 4 inches and made par (E)
#11 - Good driver down the middle. Hooked a 3-iron left of the green. Pitched on, but too hard. Had the read at 16 inches and a little too high and made bogey (+1)
#12 - Nice 5-iron on a 210 yard shot to 20 feet. Read was at 4 inches and I made the putt for birdie (E)
#13 - Good hybrid that just hung up in the wind. Hit a 7-iron on to the green. Had a 10-footer, but nuked it and made par (E)
#14 - Flubbed a 6-iron as a car drove bye and distracted me. Fortunately, I made it over and hit a nice pitch to about a foot and kicked in for par (E)
#15 - Good hybrid down the middle followed by a nice 9-iron to 5-feet and made the birdie, the read was at 1 inch (-1)
#16 - Over-drawed a driver down the left side. Had to play it safe and hit a hybrid. I then took a good swing with a LW, but the ball had a clump of mudd on it and it curved right. Then I hit a chip that hit the pin and squibbed out and made par (-1)
#17 - Good driver down the middle that got about 5 yards of roll. Hit a 9-iron to 10 feet, but nuked this one and made par (-1)
#18 - Big driver here. Unfortunately, it plugged, but still about 260 yards of carry. Good 9-iron, but still had 35 feet. Had the read at 0, but it was more like 8 inches right. Had the idea though. Made par (-1)
#1 - Played it stupid and tried to hit a driver, which I didn't hit too bad, but hit it too far and into the woods. Punched out pretty well. Then a pitch that spun too much. But, I drilled a 20 footer that I had the read dead at 0, to save par (-1)
#2 - Killed this drive, but it just kept drawing and drawing and I didn't have a shot. Played safe with a 7-iron and then a nice LW to 10 feet. Had the read at 13 inches, but mis-calculated, more like 7.5 inches. Made par (-1)
#3 - good 6-iron...pin high, about 35 feet away. Had this read at 0, but it was more like 4 inches, but I had a great speed and made par (-1)
#4 - Nice driver down the middle, flushed a 6-iron to 12 feet. Had the read (10"), but left it short (-1)
#5 - Monster driver here for me, about 315 yards. Hit SW on to 10 feet. Had hte read again (3") and left this a hair short (-1)
#6 - Nice driver down the middle. Hit a good 3-wood. Punched a PW that I pushed and never curved. Pulled the first putt (read at 16"), but left myself with an uphill 3-footer which I made for par (-1)
#7 - Good driver down the middle. Tried to punch a 7-iron and stalled my pivot and turned over the face. Sand shot flew past the green, then I hit the pin on the chip and made bogey (E)
#8 - Flushed a 5-iron at the flag and it went just short of the green. Chip and a putt for par (E)
#9 - Nuked a driver here. My playing partner couldn't believe how far I hit this one (he's a mini-tour player). Hit a 9-iron a little fat. 2-putted from 35 feet (read at 8 inches) and made par (E)
THOUGHTS: Hit the ball quite well and I only focused on 2 things from the lesson. So, if I can get down the rest, it will be very exciting. Noticed a lot more power with my driver. ball is just coming off the club with a lot more zip and sound.
I do think that my driver specs are a bit off. My playing partner was about 10 yards behind me on holes with no wind, 20-30 yards behind me with the wind and 30 yards ahead of me into the wind. I think there are some spin issues.
But overall, shooting even par on a windy, cool day at Eastwood is not easy.
