Yesterday HR notified me that I had a 1/2 day left on sick pay that I could use before year's end. Well, it was 85 today and sunny, so I took off and played some golf in the afternoon.
I have been making some progress with my swing from a video perspective, but the results on the range were not exactly showing up.
#10 - Good driver but hit it safely since it was my first swing of the day. Followed it up with a good 3-wood and then a nice 9-iron. Mis-read the putt and made par (E)
#11 - So-so driver down the middle followed by a pretty good 7-iron onto the green. Read was on, calculated a little too much break and made par (E)
#12 - Wind was in our face and the pin was in back and I hit a nice, low 3-wood to about 8 feet and drained the birdie (-1)
#13 - So-so hybrid off the tee and then it was a blind shot that I hit well, but left myself with a 50 foot putt. I played for about 8-feet of break, but it broke more like 6-feet. Thankfully, had the right speed and 2-putted for par (-1)
#14 - Decent 6-iron to the middle of the green. Had the read and calculation, but pushed it and 2-putted for par (-1)
#15 - good hybrid down the middle. Actually had a Danger Zone shot (177 yards) into the wind and hit a 6-iron right at the flag but it went over. Had a rule of 12 chip (SW) and had the read, but just missed it and made par (-1)
#16 - So-so driver that missed the fairway. good 3-wood, followed by a nice 1/2 PW to 6-feet and made the birdie (-2)
#17 - Bad driver off the toe that found the fairway bunker. Just missed the green and a chip to a foot and kicked in for par (-2)
#18 - Finally hit a driver hard, but missed it right and had to hit a shot off a toe lie over trees. I hit a poor shot then a poor pitch onto the green and 2-putted for bogey (-1)
#1 - Good hybrid off the tee. Mis-played the wind and wound up short of the green on the 2nd shot. Poor chip and 2-putted for bogey (E)
#2 - big driver off the tee that required a little bit of a draw which I didn't think would be a problem with the lie. Instead, I flush one and it goes straight as an arrow into the green side bunker. Pretty good bunker shot given the length of the shot. 2-putted for par (E)
#3 - Hit a good 7-iron, but just caught the lip of the bunker and fell back into the trap. Pretty good long bunker shot from a bad lie and 2-putted for bogey (+1)
#4 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a 5-iron fat and short of the green. Poor pitch and a 2-putt for bogey (+2)
#5 - Should have just played the draw off the tee, but I thought with the wind blowing right, I needed to play for that. Crushed a driver, but well left in the rough. Hit a 9-iron onto the green and 2-putted for par (+2)
#6 - Hit a driver well, but it went a little too far left and into the fairway bunker. Hit a great 6-iron out of the fairway bunker and followed that up with a nice 9-iron onto the green. Had the read at 3 inches, but it was more like 1 inch. Made par (+2)
#7 - Another driver that I killed but hit it left. Hooked a SW because the lie turned the face over. I couldn't see the hole very well on the putt because I was blinded by the sun and left the first putt 6-feet short. Then missed the 6-footer and took a bogey (+3)
#8 - Good 6-iron onto the green and 2-putted from 30 feet for par (+3)
#9 - Hit a driver very well, but over-drawed the ball and had to hit a shot thru an opening in a tree and did hit a great shot, but a little too hard. Chipped on and made the par putt (+3)
THOUGHTS: Had it going there, but then lost it. Overall pretty happy with the ballstriking, but the putting has been a little off.
I went on the rage afterward and saw improvements on video, but had to make a few more alterations. I think we have figured out a large chunk of what some issues are and how to eliminate them.
