I played yesterday at North Shore and the temperature got up to 88*. Unfortunately, it was a 5-1/2 hour round yesterday. Today, 80 degrees and sunny, took 3 hours to play.
I wanted to work on a few things, with the swing and mentally and see how they would work if I stuck with them.
#1 - good hybrid down the middle followed by a pretty good 8-iron that just missed the green. chipped to about 6 inches and kicked in for par (E)
#2 - Good driver down the middle, but got no roll. Nice 4-iron around the trees. Hit a good SW, but it went a little far and 2-putted from 20 feet for par (E)
#3 - Hit a 5-iron well, but hooked it. Pitched on, but should have pitched with a LW instead of a SW. 2-putted for bogey (+1)
#4 - Big driver down the middle. Then and 8-iron to the frong part of the green. I should have made this putt since I had this putt last week, but I missed it and made par (+1)
#5 - Good driver down the middle, but the wet ground didn't give me any roll. Flushed an 8-iron and went over the green. Almost made the chip and made par (+1)
#6 - High driver that I didn't hit well. Followed it up with a 3-wood down the middle. I then tried a punch PW, but it never drawed and I chipped and kicked it in again for par (+1)
#7 - Good driver down the middle. Good 9-iron to about 15-feet. Just missed the putt and made par (+1)
#8 - Nice 5-iron to the back of the green. I had the putt at 13 inches going left and I drained the birdie (E)
#9 - Push driver into the fairway bunker. Hit a 3-iron that I pulled a bit out of the bunker onto the green. Having an impeded shot in the Danger Zone and finding the green is a coup for a golfer. First putt I hit about 5-feet bye. But, I made the comebacker for par (E)
#10 - Great driver down the middle. Pull-drawed my 3-wood short of the bunker. Had a very difficult lie, going straight uphill. I hit one a mile high that hooked short of the green. Decent chip that went about 5-feet bye and I had drained a nice downhill putt for par (E)
#11 - Good driver down the middle. Pulled a 4-iron, but still found the green. Good putt from about 50-feet and made par (E)
#12 - hit a 3-iron a little fat. Tried a Rule of 12 chip, but went long. Had the read, but left it a hair short and took a bogey (+1)
#13 - Sky high 3-wood. Hit a 6-iron onto the green. Lipped out a 10-foot birdie putt (+1)
#14 - Good 6-iron onto the green to about 8-feet. Putt broke more than I thought it would and made a par (+1)
#15 - decent 3-wood down the middle. Hit an 8-iron onto the green. I had the read at 0, left edge. Had the read, but a little too soft and made par (+1)
#16 - Pushed a driver into the rough. Had a poor lie, so I took a hybrid and hit that well down the middle. Followed it with a nice LW to about 15 feet. Just missed the putt and made par (+1)
#17 - Good driver down the middle. Flushed a 7-iron onto the green. Thought I pulled the putt, but I just missed it and had I hit it harder, it would have gone in (+1)
#18 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a 7-iron onto the left side of the green. 2-putted from 40 feet for par (+1)
THOUGHTS: I was pretty happy with the round today. I only forgot what I wanted to work on about 3 times. I also incorporated a few other things in the last 2 holes and they worked pretty well, too. Tomorrow, I plan on playing with my dad after the Xmas presents. I'm just happy I managed to wrap the presents myself this year.
