Hi everyone. I recently had a couple of online lessons with Dan Carraher. He has given me a some things to work on but I am really struggling to do them. I thought I would come here and get some advice as I feel like I am takng the piss emailing him asking for help all the time.
My main issues were that my right knee stayed completely flexed which gave me no hip turn, which gave me no upper body rotation and that led to a long arm swing.
I guess my main problem is that I grew up being told to brace the right knee.
Just wondered if anyone else has had to make these changes?
Also does anyone have experience with the orange whip? And if so does it help with improving the pivot?
Thanks to anyone that takes the time to read this and reply.

It is a bit hard to comment without a video or knowing what he is asking you to do. I have all the respect in the world for Dan's teaching and I am sure he is putting you on a good track.
You really need to abolish from your mindset the idea that the right knee should maintain its position throughout the backswing. It is poison to making a proper turn on an inclined plane.

You may be:
1. Shifting your weight back in the backswing (makes it more difficult to straighten the rear knee)
2. Using too much arms and hands in the backswing, particularly from the get go. The lead shoulder needs to play more of a roll of getting the takeaway going. I think this is crucial. Tripped me up for a LONG time as I would try to start everything with my arms and wrists.

Thanks for both of your replys.
I was never doubting what Dan was asking me to do, I was just having trouble doing it! Yeah I defo need to forget about maintaining the position of the right knee.
And Richie, I think your right with both your points. I am trying to stay more centered but I dont get enough axis tilt in the downswing yet and am hitting it very low. Ill try the shoulder movement and see if that sends me in the right direction of turning my upper body.
Thanks again for your replys, you have given me some good thoughts!

Hey Richie, Is what your sayin anyway linked to starting at address a bit more wide chested, shoulders back and keeping them there as you turn ? I got terrible posture and my shoulders get rounded and of late i been feeling like my lead shoulder is not high enough at impact. Actually hurt the lead shoulder last week which made me look further into it. Ive also been looking into the orange whip to try and give me a feeling of the rotation back and through that i seem to mis understand, especially as ive played for year or more with probably an over flexed right knee too !! good topic compressme, right on cue for me
