A 56 or 60 degree wedge is designed so that you need to hit down to get the COG to hit the ball. Shaft lean is good for higher lofted irons and full shots. However, lean and digging aren't good for 30-60 yard shots on soft ground. Is there a wedge designed with A LOT of bounce in the front part of the wedge on the bottom?
When I have a lot of bounce on the back part of the bottom of the wedge I feel a blade shot is easier.
Just brainstorming here. Not that good at changing my kinematic sequence for such shots. I want to drive/dig the leading edge and trying to find away around fat shot problems on soft ground. Thus, change equipment.
Maybe Edel???

That's what Edel's wedges are about.

More bounce near the leading edge???
Not looking for huge sole width.

Edel wedges don't have a huge sole width. IIRC, this has a bounce of 27*. 3JACK

Is that the digger wedge?
Must you get fitted to buy a wedge?
Is this your model?

I believe this will be my 56* model. my 60* will be slightly difference IIRC.
Yes, you have to be fitted for a wedge.

Could you drive/lean more on half shots without worrying about a fat shot with that wedge?
I wonder if the leading edge is super killed.

You can try SCOR's wedges as they have a similar design concept, but I didn't like their grinds (which are pretty basic C shaped) as much as I like the Edel Grinds. Also, I think Edel moving the CoG more towards the toe is extremely advantageous. Lastly, the Edel fitting system is a cart with something like 20+ heads and 20+ shafts to choose from.

I really wanted to like the SCOR wedges and they're okay, but they sometimes feel like they have NO bounce. I was fitted for an Edel (we'll be fitting for them too) and I ended up at 22 on my 60, 17 on my 54, and 14 on my 48. All Driver wedges (DVR). Dave was fit with the digger wedge (DGR) (the bullet sole one above - the bounce isn't 27 but they say the "effective bounce" is 27, whatever that is). Mike McLoughlin fit into the DVR as well. I'm also having irons custom built, with the 9I having 11 degrees of bounce and one degree less bounce per iron on down through the set. Looking forward to that.

I liked the idea behind SCOR, I was just blown away by how great the Edels were once we started fitting for them. They first started me off with a 10* bounce (same as my current PING Lob Wedge) and I took one divot about the size of 2 footballs that went over my left shoulder and about 50 feet and hit some poor sap in the face I think Edel should try and get into MOI fitting/matching for the irons. I think he can do it while OEM's it's just not economically feasible for them. It would provide a niche for their irons and I believe everybody would love it. I know when I get my wedges, I'm going to add weight to MOI match them to my irons. 3JACK

Divot in the face!!! I laughed at that one while watching Kenny Powers get his groove on!
Iacas -
How are the Edel irons player? Yes, you are a player. Trackman and custom Edel irons. That's a player!!!

Sponsorship situation. Getting some Piranha A-Blades with the custom bounce, etc. The Tournament Blade 2007 is in my bag right now.

Tiny face or sole width?I think the faces are larger than most (especially with the extended score-lines).
I've also learned to hit the ground first with the trailing edge. Huge change in my wedge game (and my grind type) given that change.
