With a traditional set of clubs I become most comfortable with the club I hit the most balls with. That is, if i practice a lot with my 4 iron that becomes my favorite club. If the next week I mostly hit my 9 iron, it becomes my most comfortable club. I'm curious what effect this has on club fitting an MOI matched set.
From Richie's descriptions, the MOI weight is determined by the dispersion pattern on the clubface. Does this value change based on what club of your old set you've practiced with the most of late? Has anyone experimented with trying to adapt to the feel of different MOI value? Won't my rythym and feel just adapt to the new moi value?
If true, i could then just pick an MOI matched set and get used to them. I could get all the benefits of a Moi set without the fitting. ( As a family man, my money and time are scarce resources. )

MOI-weight has to do with the amount of 'effort' you apply swinging the club. You want to get the MOI-weight to 'match' that 'effort' you apply in your normal swing.
What happens if you practice with primarily with one club, you start to 'figure out' how to swing that club and time it right after a while.
But, a couple of things happen.
1. Let's say your optimal MOI-weight is 2,750 with your irons. And you start to practice with your 7-iron primarily which comes in at 2,700. Even though the 7-iron will start to become your best club in the bag, you will still lack the consistency you would have if the 7-iron actually matched your optimal MOI-weight. In this case, your stock swing tends to apply more force than required to swing the club. So you're getting better at timing that lighter weight, but you still won't be as consistent if it weighed in at 2,750 (your optimal MOI-weight).
2. When you irons don't match, when you go from club-to-club with different MOI-weights it becomes very hard to time it right.
It's not like one cannot strike it well without MOI-weight fitted clubs. Hell, golfers have been playing without them MOI-weight fitted since the beginning of time. It's just that this is FAR superior to swingweight and is the final missing piece as to why golfers will struggle with some equipment, even though it has virtually the same specs as the equipment they are fitted for.
