Course: Harmony Golf Preserve
Stimp: 8
Ball: Bridgestone B330-S
Today was a little hotter outside and we headed to Harmony Golf Preserve. One thing is for certain...Google Maps will always tell you the slowest time to reach a place. Harmony was supposed to take us 1:10 and instead it took us about 45 minutes. They must be having a Futures Tour even because I saw a bunch of Futures Tour players there, including Lilly Alvarez from Big Break. They started us off on the back-9.
#10 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a PW a little thin, but found the green. Had the line, but not nearly enough gas and made par (E)
#11 - Good driver down the left side of the fairway. flushed a 6-iron to about 15 feet. Hit this one too hard, but made the 3-foot putt coming back (E)
#12 - Caught a 3-iron a little off the toe and left it short of the green. Really good chip from a bad lie to about a few inches and made par (E)
#13 - Big toe-hook that actually wound up okay. I then pulled a 6-iron but found the fringe. 2-putted for par (E)
#14 - Good driver down the left side. I decided to lay-up with a hybrid because I was unsure what was up by the green. Good thing as the water sneaks in up on the left side. I then hit a nice SW to 8-feet and made the birdie (-1)
#15 - Hit a nice 3-wood off the tee down the middle. Pulled a PW, but still found the green. Just missed a 30-footer for birdie and came away with a par (-1)
#16 - Big driver down the middle, hit it about 320 yards. Then a nice 3-wood that just missed the green, about pin high to the left. Lil' flop of a LW to 5-feet and made birdie (-2)
#17 - Flew the green with a 7-iron and into the bunker. I hit a pretty darn good bunker shot from a very difficult lie. I've found that I hit some great shots with the Edel wedges that couldn't be done with my old wedges, but I'm still getting used to them. Anyway, I missed the 7-footer and it was a bad putt and made bogey. (-1)
#18 - I'm not a fan of this hole from the back tees as the tee shot is very blind. I hit that slightly low on the face, slight push, slight cut drive into the right rough. With the wind in our face I stall-slinged-hooked a hybrid into the bunker. Good bunker shot to 5-feet and saved par (-1)
#1 - Low draw into the left rough. Flushed a 4-iron onto the green and 2-putted for par (-1)
#2 - Another driver like the one on #18 and this one found the fairway bunker. Duffed it out of the bunker. Hit a pretty good shot, but it caught the tier and spun back about 12 feet. 2-putted for bogey (E)
#3 - Flushed a 5-iron, but pushed it a tad. Had the line here, but a little too hard and lipped out the birdie and made par (E)
#4 - Hit this one well off the tee, but the wind blew it into the fairway bunker. Hit a good 6-iron that wound up just short. Chip-n-putt for par (E)
#5 - Hit a driver well, but it hooked a bit and just caught the fairway bunker. Got a little creative and hit a nice cut hybrid out of the fwy bunker. Hit a 9-iron onto the green safely. Tough putt and it went 3-feet bye. However, saved the par (E)
#6 - Hey, it's only a 245 yard par-3....into the wind. Hit a hybrid kinda crummy and missed it short and right. One thing about the Edels is they get thru grass and conditions so well that it's easy to hit them too hard. That's what happened here and then I wound up 2-putting from 20 feet (+1)
#7 - Really good driver down the middle. Hit a 1/2 choke up PW to 10 feet and made the birdie putt (E)
#8 - Good driver down the middle. I had been hitting my driver really well off the deck lately, so I gave it a whirl and hit this one well to about 40 yards to the pin. Hit a pitch to 5-feet and made another birdie (-1)
#9 - Decent driver that went down the middle. Then a 6-iron hung in the wind and just short to the green. Another easy chip-n-putt and made par (-1)
THOUGHTS: Hit quite a few good shots and made a lot of key 3-5 footers. My driving has really improved as my misses are entirely better. The course had a great design to it, but the greens were cooked and in poor shape. Worth the trip, but tough to play in the summer because there is no tree cover.
