Course: North Shore GC
Stimp: 9.5
Ball: Bridgestone B330-s
After our round at Harmony, we decided to play North Shore since it was on the way home and the guys had never played it before. Greens were in great shape. Rest of the course was in decent condition.
#1 - Pretty good driver into the wind. Tried to pitch with a 9-iron to a tough pin position and went over the green. I then made an incredible, Augusta like fringe putt up a hill and into the cup for birdie (-1)
#2 - Decent 3-wood down the middle. Caught a PW fat and a poor chip about 12-feet past the cup. Missed the par save (E)
#3 - Decent driver down the middle followed by a pulled 5-iron. Tough lob shot and left it 12 feet bye and missed the par save (+1)
#4 - Good driver down the middle. Decent 8-iron, but pushed it a tad. 2-putted from 20-feet for par (+1)
#5 - Pushed a 3-wood that almost went O.B. Then hit a PW over the green that almost went into the water. Chipped on and hung one on the lip and made bogey (+2)
#6 - Pushed a hybrid right of the green. Too much on the flop and 2-putted for bogey (+3)
#7 - Hit a drive hard, but too far left. Had a tough lie and tried to managed something out of it, but it went low. Nice LW to 5-feet and made the birdie (+2)
#8 - Lil punch 9-iron to 12-feet. Mis-read and made par (+2)
#9 - Ugh, this hole is getting annnoying because I crushed one and it kicked off the fairway into the water. Another driver off the deck that went just short of the green. Good pitch to 4-feet and saved par (+2)
#10 - Hit this one really well and down the middle, but not on the fairway. Tough approach, but I hit a pretty good one here that went to the back edge. Got the putt to 3-feet and made par (+2)
#11 - Lil over-draw and was under an oak tree. Hit another driver off the deck as I had to hit something low enough to get under the branched. I actually hit a great shot just short of the green. Pitched to 12-feet. Played too much break and made par (+2)
#12 - Really good driver down the middle. Hit a 9-iron to 20 feet. This is when the greens started to slow down and I left it short and made par (+2)
#13 - Hit a driver well, but it wound up under the trees becuase I hit it a little too far. Hit a nice punch under the trees with a 6-iron and left myself with a 30-footer birdie putt. Didn't do much and made par (+2)
#14 - played it safe, hoping I could get some draw, but it stayed straight. Chipped up to 5-feet and made a par on a putt that broke more than I thought, but hit it so hard it didn't make a difference (+2)
#15 - This was a bomb. I usually out-drive one of my friends by 25 yards and this one I was about 60 yards ahead of him. Hit a 3-iron at the flag, but it went just short and stayed there (soft ground). Chip to a few inches and made birdie (+1)
#16 - Ugly 3-iron followed by another toed 8-iron short of the green. Unfair pin position but almost knocked the 3rd shot in and saved a par with a 8-footer (+1)
#17 - Pretty good 6-iron to 20-feet. Rammed the first one well bye, but made the comebacker for par (+1)
#18 - Didn't quite catch this one, but it still went 295 yards with a small wind behind us. Flushed a 7-iron pin-high, but to the right. Decent putt and made par (+1)
THOUGHTS: I was expecting better given that this course is pretty easy and I've played here countless times. But, i couldn't get over some early mistakes. Swing is really coming along now. I can't wait to tape it later this week. Orange Lake tomorrow. 4th straight round I've shot (-1) 35 on the back 9.
