At Swansea CC in MA. Back nine was closed, so I'll just summarize my first bid at the front (par 36). I am about a 12 hcp and this was my first round trying a Stack & Tilt swing, which I have been practicing at the range recently. No tees set up, but we played some holes from Gold and some from Blue approximately.
#1 (par 4): Good drive up the middle. Thought the wind was helping so I went with conservative 9i and came up short. Nice chip but missed a short par putt. +1
#2 (par 5): Pulled my drive up the left side. Hit a hybrid to the 100 marker, and hit a GW onto the green. Smooth 3-putt for bogey. +2
#3 (par 4): Hit a drive up the middle, but very short. Hit a 4i short right of the green. Chipped on and lipped out a par putt. +3
#4 (par 3): Solid hybrid but too much draw and caught the left bunker. Good sand shot, missed another short putt. +4
#5 (par 4): Nice 3-wood on this dogleg right. Hit a 9i thin but got lucky and ended up 2 ft from the hole. Tap in birdie. +3
#6 (par 3): Probably best shot of the day, PW to about 6 ft. Sliding downhill putt so I couldn't be too aggressive. Missed the birdie putt and tapped in for par. +3
#7 (par 4): Solid drive up the middle. Pushed an 8i, leaving myself a tough pitch onto this sloped, elevated green. Tried to flop it and slid under it, came up short. Chipped on and made the putt for bogey. +4
#8 (par 5): Good drive up the middle. Thought I could get home in two, but missed a 3-wood roughly 80 yds right of my target . Chipped out of the trees, threw it on the green and 2-putted for bogey. +5
#9 (par 4): OK drive, but dead straight on this dogleg left and I was blocked out by trees. Punched out to 75 yards, hit a nice SW to about 10 ft and 3-putted for double bogey. +7
Score: 43
Putts: 19
GIR: 3
Scrambling: 0
One thing I have to say about S&T is that I felt pretty confident with my swing. I definitely had a couple "funny" misses, but that's about as solid as I've ever hit my driver.
Haven't been doing any short game work so I can't really say I was surprised in that department. I'm still at that point where I find putting practice boring, so I never spend much time on it.
