Supposedly the longest/softest ball Wilson has in their lineup. I'd like to give 'em a shot... anyone tried them?

Wow, those sound like an awesome idea! Maybe these are even soft enough to use on persimmons. I can't wait for a lot of people to start using these, so I can buy them 2nd hand, like I do with my prov1s. So far, I like the ProV1 and ProV1x, Bridgestone B330 and even the E6, Nike Ones, and occasionally Wilson Staff. I heard the Z-star is really good, but I haven't tried that yet.

They're only $20/dz... it's already half-off a box of V1s.

I'm a bit skeptical. I've always liked the ideas behind the Wilson golf balls, but have yet to find one that performs anywhere near my expectations.

Firmer balls will almost always have higher ball speeds with the driver. Softer balls work for some to help with their distance because the generate spin to keep the ball in the air.

I bought a dozen with a gift card I got to Dick's. I haven't played a round with them yet, but I did bring them to the practice area. Very soft feeling off the putter. Much closer to a Pro V1 than a Callaway ball. VERY soft off the wedges, kinda muted feel. I had NO problem with getting the ball to spin and check up. Same for out of the sand.
I'll have some more input after I use the ball on the course, but I'm pleased with the results so far. For a two piece ball these things spin just fine and are super soft feeling.

I am now into my second dozen of these. I think there is a lot of performance here for a $20 bill. Since it flies high it lands pretty softly. It is a bit lively off the putter, but you can get used to that quickly during some practice. I think these are a very good value.

I used the Wilson Zip's and paid about 25 cents a ball, I thought they were very good for that price tag, I will give these a try.
If I was a good player I would shell out the cash for a better ball but I cant imagine a $50 ball doing that much for me.

I usually play the Pro V1x's. I would play a cheaper ball if I felt that they were similar in performance. I tried the Wilson Zips and lost about 2-clubs in distance, although I liked the feel of them with the putter.
Generally, I will probably by a box of Pro V1x's about once a month, unless my dad is able to get some logo over-runs in the Villages on merchant day for $25. I will typically be able to handle a dozen for about 1 month before I need to get some new ones. If I get on a hole were there's a decent chance I could lose the ball, I just switch it out with a decent ball I have found over time.

I've been meaning to update this thread... Thanks for reminding me.
I've been playing the Duo exclusively since June. Prior to going whole hog on the Duo band wagon I spent about a month on the practice green comparing it to top end brands.
The Duo (for me) is brilliant off the putter. Very soft feel/sound. Just fantastic. Actually, I've never putted better since using he Duo exclusively. Chip shots react EXACTLY the same as ProV1, Callaway Hex Tour, etc. Low driving pitch shots (one hop n stop) spin a lttle less with the Duo than with the ProV1... as best I can tell anyhow. The two are very close and I don't have trackman. 100 yards and in I find no difference between the Duo and ANY premium brand (other than the muted sound, where callaway's *click* the Duo's *thumpf") Mid irons, again no difference. For me there has been no loss or gain in distance. Traj is predictable. Status quo. With the driver I'm about the same as well. I haven't been swinging the big stick all too well lately so it's probably best I don't comment either way.
Bottom line: I'm a Wilson Duo man. I still like ProV1s, and I can sometimes pull off the one hop n stop shot with a ProV, but it's not a shot I lean on too much so I don't miss it. That's not to say you can't hit the same shot with the Duo, because I have, but it doesn't seem quite as consistent. I tend to get more of a hop n almost stop n trickle a few feet with the Duo. No run out like hitting a distance ball though.
I would play ProVs if the prices were the same between the two balls, but at less than 1/2 the price I can't justify not playing the Duo. The Wilson Duo is THAT good.
