Had a rough day yesterday, shooting 77 at Eastwood, but hitting it more like an 87 out there and making some putts to salvage a reasonable score. So today we went to North Shore. Weather was cloudy, but really nice out. Course in pretty good condition.
#1 - Pushed a driver well into the right rough. Pitch to about 7-feet and made a big breaker for birdie (-1)
#2 - Hit a good 3-wood, but pushed it a tad. Good 9-iron to about 15-feet. Thought the putt would go straight (double break), but it wound up breaking left (-1)
#3 - BIG driver off the tee down the middle. Flushed 9-iron to about 12-feet. Pulled the putt a tad and made par (-1)
#4 - Decent driver down the middle. Hit a 5-iron to the front edge of the green. Pretty good first putt and made par (-1)
#5 - Big driver with the tail-wind. Left me 40 yards to the green and tried to hit a flop over the bunker. Did a decent job and lipped out a 12-footer for birdie (-1)
#6 - Decent 3-iron to about 25-feet. Bad first putt, but made the 3-footer for par (-1)
#7 - Decent driver down the middle. Hit a driver off the deck. Had a peculiar pitch with a PW that went to 12-feet and just missed that birdie putt (-1)
#8 - Almost made a hole-in-one with a PW and made the 3-footer for birdie (-2)
#9 - Good driver down the left side. Hit another driver off the deck, but it kicked into the waste bunker. Rifled an 8-iron out of the waste bunker to 8-feet and lipped out that birdie putt as well (-2)
#10 - I hit this driver well, but it rolled thru the knolls and wound up in a divot, up against the cart-path. I didn't know what to do here as I probably could have taken relief from the path. But I didn't and it hit the false front and spun off. Decent chip to 5-feet and missed the par save (-1)
#11 - Pushed a driver a little right. Tried to cut a hybrid and it hit an oak tree. Wound up okay, but I chubbed an 8-iron short of the green. So-so pitch and a 2-putt for bogey (E)
#12 - Hit this really well, but it cut on me a little and hit the branches of an oak tree and kicked into the woods. It was one of those drives that was on the border of being in great shape if it gets thru the overhanging branches. Punched out, hit a SW to 15-feet, 2-putted for bogey (+1)
#13 - Hit driver well, but it went thru the fairway and into the woods. Punched out onto the green. 35-footer down a tier and missed by 7-feet, but made the comebacker to stop the bleeding. (+1)
#14 - This hole had to be nearly impossible to birdie today because I flushed a 7-iron at the flag and went down the slope of the green, leaving me with a nearly impossible 20 footer for birdie. 2-putted for par (+1)
#15 - decent driver down the middle. Beautiful push-draw with a 3-wood to 15-feet, 2-putted for birdie (E)
#16 - Got a bit lucky here as I went for it with the driver with the tail wind and hit it well, but pushed it a bit and it hit an oak tree and bounced into the fairway. SW to 12-feet and made the birdie (-1)
#17 - Over-draw with a 6-iron up against the hi9ll. Hit a beautiful flop to a foot and kicked in for par (-1)
#18 - Big driver down the middle. flushed a 7-iron that hit the edge of the bunker and was buried. I just hacked away it, thinking I would be lucky to get it out of the bunker. Did one better and had a 12-footer, made the par save (-1)
THOUGHTS: Afterwards I taped some swings and saw some improvement. I think I'm figuring out some of the new things I've been working on. When I do it pretty well, I can hit some pretty powerful shots. Overall pretty happy.
