I was looking at the Wishon 739CCG driver. I have never hit it personally. I did have a customer purchase one of these at my suggestion because it is the ultimate in customization. Here are some of the key features:
Clubhead Weight
The clubhead by itself weighs 188 grams. The 919THI driver head weighs 202 grams by itself. Wishon has the lowest iron head weights I’ve seen. Only GolfSmith (who employed Wishon as head of Club Design at one point) has the same *iron* head weights in some of their models as Wishon.
Tom has said that some driver head weights go as light as 195 grams. I’m guessing that those are ones with weight screws, much like the 739CCG. I did measure the head weight of an Adams 9064LS and it came out to 208 grams.
The 739CCG comes with 2 weight screws. You have to fill those weight screws in. Thus, the head weight will be at least 193 grams. But, you can make the head weight up to 229 grams as well depending on what you need.
You also have the hand pick option which means the clubhead weight can be initially at 185 to 192 grams. Thus by adding weight screws we are looking at a head weight that can be anywhere from 190 to 232 grams.
LOFT
He has the stamped lofts at 9.5° and 11°. With the handpicked option, that means the loft can go as low as 8.5° and as high as 12°.
LIE ANGLE
The lie angle is at 58°. However, we have a couple of options. First, the handpick can take 1° up or down. And then the hosel can alter the lie angle 2° up or down. So you could have a lie angle anywhere from 55° to 61°.
Face Angle
Set at 0° square for the 9.5° model and 1° hooked for the 11 degree model. Again, 1° tolerance for the hand pick option and 2° bending ability.
So:
9.5° model: 3° closed to 3° open
11° model: 4° closed to 2° open
Of course, you probably won’t be able to find the every paremeter with the handpicked option. You may find a driver with a 12° loft, but the face angles may be at 1° hooked, 1.25° hooked and 0.5° hooked. If you want a 12° loft with a 2° open face, you are probably SOL.
But, the fitting options are there.
If I hit my UST Mamiya Red 7x in my 919THI driver well, what I may do is try and sell my Silver 6x model on eBay. If I can’t get the price I want. I would probably go with the 11° model, handpicked to 11.5°. Then get the face angle opened up to somewhere between 0 and 1° open. Then a 16-gram and 13-gram weight screw to get the head weight approximately where I want it to get the MOI to 2,825 kg/cm^2.
The club would have the following specs:
Wishon 739 CCG
11.5° loft
58° lie angle
0.5° open face angle
214 gram total head weight
UST Mamiya ProForce VTS Silver 6x shaft (69 grams)
44-3/8” long
