Tough day today. 45-50* and 30 mph winds and a wet course. Hit the Apex PC's today which are now 5* flat and have a truckload of leadtape on them.
#1 - Hit a good driver. Wind was in our face. Hit 3-wood on the approach where I usually have a 5-8 iron approach. Wound up just short of the green. Vertical hinged a SW to 10 feet (just went shorter than I thought) and made the putt for par. (E)
#2 - hit a hybrid on a hole I would probably hit a 5-iron on usually. Hit it well, pushed a smidge. Pitched well to 6 feet. Mis-read on the putt (+1)
#3 - Good driver down the pipe. Got greedy and tried to hit a driver off the deck on a hole I should never try that on (downhill lie on the 2nd shot). Went into the drink. Thinned a 5-iron into the bunker, good bunker shot but it was such a tough leave I had 10 feet for bogey and 2-putted for double (+3)
#4 - Good hybrid off the tee. Caught a 9-iron thin and left myself 40 feet to the cup. 2-putted for par (+3)
#5 - Thin pull draw a 7-iron. hit a good chip to 6-feet, lipped out the putt (+4)
#6 - Caught a 3-wood a little thin and sliced a tad. Wound up almost in the hazard. Punched out. Pitched on and 2-putted (+5)
#7 - Caught an 8-iron thin and wound up short. Hit a decent flop to 8 feet. Lipped out the putt (+6)
#8 - Drawed a driver into the left rough. Thin pushed a 7-iron short. Chipped on and 2-putted from 10 feet (+7)
#9 - Nice draw with a driver down the middle. Hooked a 3-wood into the left rough. Hit LW to a front cut pin to 15 feet and 2-putted for par (+7)
#10 - Great drive down the middle. Hit LW to the green and the wind just took it. Then I made a 40 footer for birdie (+6)
#11 - Almost shanked a 3-iron. Pitched on and 2-putted from 30 feet (+7)
#12 - Decent driver down the middle. Finally hit an iron solid (6-iron) to 35 feet. 2-putted for par (+7)
#13 - Teed it high and moved the ball up so the tail wind could carry the ball over the bunker. Did that. Hit a PW solid to 25 feet and 2-putted for par (+7)
#14 - Pretty good driver down the right side. Caught a 3-wood a little thin and went up the right side. Hit LW to 10 feet, made the putt for birdie (+6)
#15 - Toe hooked a driver that wound up on the cart path. Caught a hybrid a little thin to the right side of the green. Made a nice up and down for par (+6)
#16 - Hooked a driver here (felt good though). This is a screwy hole where you can hit a perfect drive like you want and still be the toughest hole on the course or you can hook one and find it being the easiest hole on the course. I was in great position. Wind knocked down a 9-iron into the green. Pitched on and two putted from 20 feet (+7)
#17 - Knocked 5-iron well past the hole into a deep rough. Pitched on and 3-putted (+9)
#18 - Hit the best driver of the day down the middle. Usually I can get on in 2 easily with a good drive. Not today in this wind. Tried to punch a 5-iron, which I hit well but hooked it. Hit a SW to 20 feet and 2-putted.
42-38=80 (+9)
10/13 Fairways
8/18 GIR
34 putts
2/9 scramble
I've got to do some measurements of the Apex PC's. They feel really light. They should be at a D5 or D6 swingweigh, same as my IPT's, but they feel much lighter. Perhaps the overall weight is much lighter.
