We all are very familar with how launch angle and angle of attack affects driver distance with the Trackman system. I think many of us have moved the ball forward to mess around with this new theory, but how much. I mentioned in another thread that as my round went on Friday I really started moving the ball foreward and teeing it higher. I had always feared doing this hitting a hook but I have begun to trust my swing. I hit a couple of drives where I did not feel I crunched them but they really got out there pretty good. I am going to keep playing around with this but I thought the following picture might give you an idea how forward we are talking about, this is JB Holmes and this was not a cut but a fairly straight ball so its not a misleading camera angle.

Greg,
To hit upwards on the ball without performing a "hanging back" swing action, I think that its is better to place the ball ahead of low point (which is opposite the left shoulder in standard swing).
How far ahead of low point? I think that it depends on how much forward kick of the shaft one has in one's driver swing.
The more the shaft kicks-forward through impact, the less ahead of low point one needs to place the ball for the same degree of upwards-hit.
Jeff.

Yeah obviously there are some different dynamics in play. I would say that I usually play the driver about 3 inches behind where JB Holmes does, pretty close to lowpoint and I never hit the driver that high.
