Played Newport National yesterday, which has $35 off-season rates right now. Beautiful day, and shared it with my father and two good friends. We teed off at 1:20 PM, and walked the course, so it was getting pretty dark on the last few holes. We did manage to finish though. I don't know the course well enough to recall every hole, but my highlights were chipping in on 10 for birdie, and sinking a 20-footer on 11 for birdie. I had a good day off the tee, and ended up shooting 83 (43/40) from Gold tees. I was pretty excited because the last time I played Newport National, 3 years ago, I shot over 100. The course is beautiful and it was really an honor to play it. Although I hear it is alot crueler come summer when the fescue grass shows it's teeth .
