I was feeling good going into today's round as I played pretty well the last 2 times and I was using the IPT's this round and I think my putting was coming around. A big problem is with this crappy weather, I don't have the motivation to practice putting in the cold.
Anyway, here goes...at Windermere and we started off on #10.
#10 - Good drive just short of the bunkers, but with a tough downhill lie. Hit a pretty good LW to the back part of the green and I wound up 2-putting from 20 feet. (E)
#11 - 3-iron to about 12 feet. Putt didn't break, tapped in for par. (E)
#12 - Great drive down the middle. Hit a 6-iron to about 2 feet and tapped in for birdie (-1)
#13 - Another big driver down the middle. Hit a 7-iron to about 10 feet...nice shot. Little too hard and the putt didn't break enough (-1)
#14 - Big driver down the middle. Hit a 2-iron from a downhill lie thin and wound up short. Chipped on and tapped in (-2)
#15 - Good driver down the left side. Hit an 8-iron to 20 feet. 2-putted from there (-2)
#16 - I hate this hole. It's ridiculous. Hit a good driver, but it was too much and found a lie in the rough with the ball about knee level. Thinned a 4-iron short of the green. Nice pitch, but couldn't make the 7-footer (-1)
#17 - Hit a good 7-iron to 18 feet and gave it a good run. Tapped in for par (-1)
#18 - Big driver down the right side. Hit a 4-iron (wind was behind us) about 10 feet right of the green. Used a putter because the grass is dormant. Then made a 6 foot putt for birdie (-2)
#1 - Big drive right down the middle. Hit a 6-iron that I pushed a tad to about 30 feet. 2-putted from there (-2)
#2 - 4-iron to about 15 feet. Ball broke off the earth and I 2-putted for par (-2)
#3 - Decent driver down the middle. So-so 3-wood up in good shape. Pitched a LW to 8 feet and made the birdie (-3)
#4 - Little toe-draw with a hybrid down the left side. Hit an 8-iron well, but the wind caught it and then the ball was on the front side of the green and the pin was in back.
There's a huge swale on the this green and I was in front of the swale while the cup was behind the swale. And my line was right on the ridge of the swale. I had about a 45 foot putt. I tell my playing partners 'if I make this, I should be given the key to the city.' One of the playing partners says 'if you make this, I'll give you the keys to my car.' I then hit a great putt that falls 1" short from going in. We all laughed and I tapped in for par (-3)
#5 - Poor 6-iron that wound up left and short. Nice lob shot with a LW to about 5-feet and made the putt. Good save (-3)
#6 - Killed a hybrid of the tee. Hit 8-iron well, but too far right. 2-putted from 30 feet (-3)
#7 - Hit 5-iron a little thin but on the green. 2-putted from 40 feet (-3)
#8 - Killed a driver off the tee, but it caught the wind, tailed left and bounced left into the woods. Then hit a FANTASTIC 7-iron, thru the woods, with a big draw that landed just over the green to about 20 feet. 2-putted from there (-3)
#9 - Killed another driver that did the same thing on the last hole and this time wound up in a fairway bunker. Killed a 4-iron out of the fairway bunker. Had LW in and chunked it. Going to try out some Scratch Golf LW's sometime soon at their Chattanooga site. Then chipped up and almost knocked it in the cup. Made par (-3)
34-34 = 68 (-3)
10/13 Fwy
15/18 GIR
32 putts
2/3 scramble
