Some guys should just stay as OC or DC. Norv is a great OC IMO. Horrible head coach. Smith seemed like an egomaniac as well. Never should have left Brees or VJ leave. agree. I like Rivers, but this season his confidence was gone with O-line protection issues, and the absence of a WR like VJ.

The game of golf doesn't understand that the middle class and in general all working class have less free time than they did 20-30-40 years ago. My dad is a working class guy and worked for power companies for nearly 40 years. Growing up, he would get 4-weeks paid vacation and it could accrue to as high as he could get it. Because he was such a workaholic, he accrued nearly 2-years worth at one point. One Summer he decided to take roughly one month straight off for work. I also referred to that as the Summer from Hell I currently get 2-weeks paid vacation. I used to get 10-holidays off, but last year it was at 8. If I work at this company for another 2 years, I'll get 3-weeks paid vacation. When the free time shrinks, that means that the stuff involved in free time now has to compete much more fiercly to get the $$$$. Golf doesn't seem to get this and they just let things keep sliding bye. The game of golf in the US has had a slow play issue for DECADES. The reason why it is becoming a bigger issue is because free time has shrunk. And that's why so many people don't play golf or they prefer to hit balls. They can hit balls and take less time doing so. Furthermore, they can stop when they want to. While slow play is an important issue, these golf courses have to think outside the box and also be designed in keeping golfers and their families on the property for longer periods of time. Stoneybrook East is in the middle of a huge community with a lot of money. In fact, my CEO lives in the community. But, they do jack shit for business. They have a very nice clubhouse, locker room and beautiful and roomy restaurant. But, the restaurant closes down at 4pm every day except for Friday nights. What's crazy to me is that golf is often in a situation where you have these couses in these communities and the course can barely stay afloat, but the community won't let it go under because you have people who bought houses because it was on the golf course and there are all of these other issues with the land as well. The question should be 'why are not more people in the community of these courses going to the course a lot more?' What golf courses have to do is make the golf course a social venue. They have to design a course with a restaurant that people can go to all of the time. But, they need to look beyond that traditional golf course-restaurant setups and get the wife to hang out because there are things for her to do and to get the kids to hang out because there are things for them to do. Why golf courses got out that is beyond me. 3JACK

Something to compare to our situation.
The basic has been for years that clubs are based on membership and shares, so one share includes one playing ability for one year. Our season is mainly from middle of april to the end of november.
We are members in one of the top20 courses in Finland where I also teach, so I got only expense of membership which is about 90 USD. So my share is used by my wife and she pays about 800 USD for the whole season and very interesting feature in our club is that shareholders kids under 18y play for free. So whole year playing at home course makes about 1000 USD for the whole family in well maintained course. And of course we have to buy that share and they have been around 4000 USD and you can sell that anytime you want with market price.
We also got possibility to by "gold card" that allows us to visit 5 times per year to about 20 courses nearby for the total price of about 200 USD. Normal GF for other courses is somewhere between 55-90 USD
Now the funny point is that more people here are claiming golf being too expensive that way and there is some clubs that sells only the membership without shares, so those who play less can make it cheaper that way and pay the GF every time they play.
Maybe need to elaborate little bit the philosophy behind our system and why it's built like that. The basic idea is that if one wants to play golf, he/she got to carry the responsibility of the home course by paying that annual fee. So as far as we stay in this system, courses never can run out of money, as expenses are shared to shareholders.
Also other way to play is to rent one share and pay little extra, so the price of one year for one player is around 1000 USD.
So now more and more people are starting to avoid that responsibility to save money and you can get shares from really good courses even for free, as their future is unknown and annual fees are rising when less people are sharing those expenses. People are even paying to get someone to take their shares and making about illegal things to sell those to companies that are going to bankrupt and never gonna pay one cent of what they should.
Totally crazy situation here for the moment and just wonder how this all can end
