Wanted to get some thoughts on some drills to help with tempo during the swing. Thanks.

IMO, tempo is important in order to get your sequence...particularly your downswing sequence correct. I do get a lot of rave reviews about my tempo in my swing, but I can honestly say it's something that I've never really worked on.
One thing I would suggest is toying around with some heavier golf clubs. The swingweights in today's clubs are ridiculous. I currently play with irons that have D5-D8 swingweights. I just started doing this and I love the results.
I first did this with a set of Hogan IPT blades and really liked the weights. Then I tried to do the same with my Hogan Apex PC blades and while they had the same heavy swingweight, something didn't feel right...so I just added more weight until I got to where I liked it.
I have to agree with Lag Erickson on this one, golfer's have lost the art of really knowing their own golf clubs and actually tweaking their clubs themselves until they get them to wear they like them. Today, most people rely solely on the clubfitter to tell them what they should use.
The main time I lose tempo is when I'm working on things with my swing. Very easy to get really fast in this process. So if you're working on things in your swing and feel you're losing tempo, I suggest to break it down a bit. Instead of working on 3 things in the swing, just work on one until you get that down pat, then move onto the next thing.
And a lot of times the tempo gets lost in the takeaway. That's why I would suggest a lagging clubhead takeaway. Here's Greg McHatton's swing...he's a person who uses a lagging clubhead takeaway.
Take something about the size of an impact bag and stick it about 2 feet behind the rear foot. You want it in line with where the clubhead would travel in the backswing. As you take the club away, you actually want to hit the bag in the takeaway. That gives that lagging clubhead takeaway feeling. The great Bobby Jones had a beautiful lagging clubhead takeaway.
