A putt 20' straight uphill or straight downhill is 20'.
What is the effective length of a putt where the ball is 20' straiht to the hole but the putt must be airmed 36" left to make it? 24'?
Are there any standards for putt length involving curlers? For example, for every 12" left or right that adds an additional 8" to the overall putt length at 10'?
Just trying to see if there is a way to get better distance control through green reading.

Not as much as you think. And there are no standards because it would depend on where the break occurs - some putts break more early, some more late.
I'm going from memory but a 20' putt with a foot of break had maybe 20'4" of total length? It didn't add much at all.

Iacas -
Thanks. That helps. I'm at the point where I might try to anchor a long putter and the USGA goes and bans anchoring. Figures!!!
