He's a Tour player that I've been quite impressed with his metrics. A couple of years ago I happened to catch him because he was one of the players whose actual Adjsuted Scoring Average was much worse than his projected Adjusted Scoring Average with an algorithm I use.
I started to see why he had issues. The ability is there, but he is ultra aggressive. He tends to try and hug the water hazards and trees, etc. in hopes of getting a better shot instead of trying to safely avoid those. Unfortunately, there is no way to really quantify it. But this year he just stepped up his ballstriking performance and it worked. He still is well off from his projected Adjusted Scoring Average. But from a pure ability to strike a golf ball, Chappell is one of the best young golfers out there.
